Short after the council calls, Idrag, Nairb, and a blonde short man who must be Etan enter, manacled and escorted by at least a dozen heavily armed guards. Banion's paranoid sense tingle when he realizes they don't look as worried as men in their situation should be.

"A masterful strike" says Idrag. "Of course, I knew there was a filthy traitor hidden under the butt-licker skin of Soluc, but I didn't suspect he was so well prepared."

"The only traitor here is you, Idrag." says one of the council members, a obese man with a dozen rings glittering in his hands. "Where's Soluc, by the way? He should be here"

Idrag signals and a guard in the rear advances. He carries a cloth bundle wich he throws on the large table. It unfurls, revealing a severed head, covered in fresh blood.

The grisly trophy understandably disorganizes the entire council, several or the members standing up in horror as the blood soaked face stares at them with dead eyes. A couple chairs fall, and the noise echo in the large room mixing with terrorized cries.

"Kill them all" says Etan, while removing his manacles. A crossbow bolt flies and sinks in the obese merchant's greasy double chin, splattering blood around. Nairb looks at you and smiles, making arcane gestures.

Time to roll initiative.

ooc: Since Banion guessed this part of the plot from the very start of the adventure, I think he deserves 300 extra XP.

IC: initiative (1d20+4=9)
Despite Banion's warning, Beamer is slower than normal to react. When he finally has the chance, he unleashes a glitterdust targeting (in order of priority) Nairb, Idrag, and Etan. He then ducks for cover and tries to find a way to start working toward the exit in case things go badly, which when Beamer's involved they always seem to.

OOC:
Don't rush to the red dragon inn looking for new jobs. We still have to tie a couple loose ends
When your DM says something like that, it's always time to duck and cover.

Draig's initiative; 1d20+3 = 4

After Banion's warning Draig was on guard, but expecting trouble from outside, not from the prisoners. His attention brought home by Etan's words and Nairb beginning to cast, he hoists his Urgosh and charges in to meet the closest of Idraig's allies.

Wielding double-handed; Attack: 1d20+6 = 20; Damage: 1d8+4 = 6

Town council’s massacre, round 1

The guard immediately bursts into the room, obeying Idrag with enthusiasm. Several council members are murdered on the spot, and so is Draig. Almost. Two guards reach him and pierce his armor with longswords, nearly falling the dwarf, but he’s too tough and stubborn to accept defeat.

Meanwhile Banion eyes the enemy wizard. As Beamer starts casting, the mage weaves magic on his own: the opportunity Banion was looking for. However, with the mass of corpses in between his shot isn’t as good as it should, and bounces off the magic armor the wizard is surrounded with. Beamer finds how his magic fizzles and becomes just a stream of harmless sparks. It’s the first time this happens, and he doesn’t like it at all.

Around the huge table, Idrag advances toward you with a flaming sword.

[ooc: Banion manifests his mindblade, and readies his shot

Bad guys act now. Two of them manage to reach Draig and attack him, this time using longswords. Both connect and deal 17 damage, and would have dropped him should I have followed combat rules to the letter and denied him his Dex bonus to AC, since he hasn’t acted yet. Several others slaughter other council members, and other hands Idrag a sheathed longsword.

The captain of the guard draws it and the blade immediately bursts in flames. He then advances towards you, but can’t reach your position.

Beamer starts casting Glitterdust, and then the wizards responds. Banion’s readied action kicks in, and he throws his mindblade, but fails since the wizard is has cover from almost everyone in the way. Beamer’s spell is countered.

Etan hides in the rearguard.

I’ll let Draig the chance to change his action, if he wants to do something else than attacking.

Party status: Draig 17 damage.

Sorry for not posting a map, but I can’t make one right now. The room is a large rectangle, with doors on both short ends. There’s a large table in the middle that leaves 10 foot corridors free at both sides. One long side the (rolling…) one you’re in, has several large windows, the other has the portraits.

There is a dozen guards in the room, not counting the wizard and Idrag. In two rounds tops all the council members will be dead.]

The blows from the longswords cutting deep into Draig sap him of his confidence. Looking around at the windows behind him he sees a chance to escape from a bleak situation before he's unable to do so. Trying to avoid any blows from the guards, Draig tries to escape.

OOC: Draig will change his action to withdraw!

Banion will give it another try. If he doesn't have line of sight on the enemy spellcaster but does on Idrag he'll throw towards the big kahuna instead. Manifest and...

Thrown Mindblade (1d20+12=26, 1d4+3+1d8=9)

That ought to hit even with cover!

Beamer's our only chance to save even a few of these people. Hopefully this will allow him to get his spell off.
