D&D 5E (IC) Vault of the Dracolich (Dispensables)

Lorenn circles the Altar room, trying to establish a telepathic connection to Eko, his bat familiar. He finds it near the altar (and unfortunately close to the pile of dead bodies.) Echo has been waiting and watching, and reports that the conversing humans have parted into two groups: The Bald man and his oversized companion went through the guarded door, along with two others. The Bearded man and the rest (other than four door-guards) went through the doors past the dragon.

The biggest news of all is that the Dragon has also disappeared, in a crackle of red energy and a burst of dust, the dragon disappeared entirely, the coins of his treasure pile showering down to fill the spaces where its bones had been.

GM: For your consideration of the four exits to the room:

Door 1) This is the door that Pyrus was shot from. To the best of his ability to have seen it, it's a barracks, and the door has been forced many times. So far Bob's pile of pews have held, with Bob occasionally having to help hold it.

Door 2) This door is barred, and has a large oak table piled with the pews. It's the largest door and you don't know where it leads, but by design, it appears to be the main doors to the altar room. The cultists have attempted to come through it a few times, to no avail.

Door 3) The cultists have not attempted to force this door, but they have been behind it chanting (Roll Arcana for more). Lorenn can calculate that it would be in the direction of the guarded door that his bat saw, and reported that the "Bald man" went in that direction.

4) The Bhaalite Obelisk - You can teleport, but you don't know where it goes. Maybe back to the Troglodytes, maybe elsewhere.

Pick a direction. Feel free to discuss in OOC, or in character here.

OOC: Oh, while I'm here, I'd like to warn you that Lamp Oil and Alchemical Fire are two different things. Lamp Oil doesn't make good Molotov Cocktails. (Just in case you were thinking that.

The Genasis agree that the door has been warded in some probably very lethal ways.

OOC: With rolls like that, I think I will allow them to psychically disrupt the trigger, so that it can be opened safely if you choose to go that way.

Edit: I made a map for the previous post, and forgot to include it! That was almost a waste of an hour! Check it out:

"That door has been warded, but we may be able to disable it, if we want to go that way," Pyrus said, pointing to door 3.

"Behind that door stands heavy stuff. The bald guy in robe I spotted sooner and at least 3 others cultists. One of them... well, it's something. "

OOC: You are starting to feel pretty surrounded, and with good reason. Lorenn gets the impression that the shorter, bearded man, is probably Bardaby "The Beast", the mercenary leader - and he very possibly could be organising the group behind Door 1, while the Bald Man, is very likely Silakul, the High Cultist.

"So, they will breach in soon, we must take the initiative. We can rush out to the west and fight Silakul but Bardaby will take us from behind. We can also disappear in the complex by the south door and strike them where they don't see us coming. "

OOC: I've never used lamp oil as a Molotov coctail. Much better to splatter an area with it and set it all alight. Nothing like a good ol' "The floor is lava" scenario to drive the bad guys batty.

Bob looks at the doors and listens to the suggestions. "I say we go this way. Nothing like a good battle to get the blood pumping eh?" He's pointing to door one.

Squirrels are evil!

Pyrus pipes up "I say we open the barracks. I can put a small globe of darkness in front of it, so they can't see through, and will not know where we are, at least to start. If we splash oil on the ground inside the darkness and light it, they won't know the fire is there. It will give us an edge, perhaps. Everyone else readies their attacks so the first sign of a combatant, we all strike at the same time."
