Righteous Blood, Ruthless Blades; Wandering Heroes of Ogre Gate; Strange Tales of Songling

This kind of thing probably should have been clarified in the Internal Martial Arts description itself as well
2nd edition confirmed! I jest, but that does remind me, I wanted to ask if there was any info on that supernatural supplement you and Jeremy were working on?
Bride with White Hair is a kind of star-crossed lovers wuxia film about a woman from an evil sect who falls in love with a member of Wudang. If you like this one, the sequel, which isn't as good as the original, has a lot of gameable elements
I recall reading as such on you blog. I started a list of films I've watched to use as inspiration, with notes on the specific elements that seem gameable. As dissimilar as it was to CT,HD, I found Sword of Destiny to be more how a wuxia RPG would look in play.
It takes time to get a sense of where the levels should be in terms of power
Even longer without actually seeing it play. I've only got one other person actually interested in wuxia.
I am not sure on that connection. I can ask him if you want
If it's not a bother, that would great. There's so much cultural context I miss having no real exposure to China.

Right now there are no plans for it. We would both love to get to that or an adventure but it isn't our call

Yeah Bride with White Hair is one of my favorites. And the sequel is definitely a bit like Sword of Destiny in that it feels more like how things might look in play. Another great introduction would be Web of Death.

Something I do when I want to test out things, is just run a tournament scenario. That way, I can playtest tons of SAs in combat. Also tournament scenarios are pretty easy to prep

Let me see what he thinks on this one

I asked about xuanming, and I guess it could be many, many different things. It is also complicated because he said she says the word with a slight accent and that makes it harder to figure out. But he said it is a huge list of possibilities

Who do I need to badger at Osprey to make it happen?

I have more viewing to do.

Well, I am one of those weirdos who likes GM "lonely fun".

Annoying, but understandable. I remember reading there was some difficulty during production because they all spoke different languages/dialects with Zhang Ziyi being the only native mandarin speaker.

Just thought I would pop this in here. It arrived today. French edition of Righteous Blood Ruthless Blades

...Anyway, the point is that according to her, there is some mystical connection between the sword and the Wudang techniques. This is important to the plot of the movie because, as you recall, "Jen" is studying those exact techniques, but feels that she can't progress past her master...

Somewhat late; based on this author's comment, perhaps this version of Green Destiny you're constructing requires several proficiencies in particular RBRB internal arts in order to fully unlock its capabilities?

Nice. Was localisation always in the works, or did it need to meet a certain threshold of commercial success to warrant?

My sense is they were just going for accuracy, but we mostly were fielding rules clarifications, not phrasing questions (so I am honestly not sure)

This could work. You could have ranks in internal martial arts skill itself impact the swords capacities, or have specific Wudang sword signature abilities that open it up. The main thing I recall seeing in the films was the sword’s sharpness. She uses it to chop up Michelle yeoh’s weapons in the big duel but Yeoh uses that against her in the end

I hadn't considered that. Maybe, instead of fixed bonuses, they scale with ranks in Internal Martial Arts? i.e +1-3d10 damage, +1-3d10 bonus, and 1-3 extra wounds.
or have specific Wudang sword signature abilities that open it up.
That is where I've hit a stumbling block. There's a few signature abilities already in the book that could be considered to represent what's shown on screen, and I haven't been satisfied enough with my other ideas to iterate on them.

I figured this was inherent to the sword itself, because of the way she caressed the blade in that duel, and Shu Lien saying Jen would be nothing without it. Though this was before Jeremy's revelation.
