We don't know the answer to your question because the premise of your question appears to be something you know more about than us.

I don't know what a streaming schedule is (which streamer?), nor do I know what sort of schedule the BBC seems to need. There's a million reasons around shooting schedules, including the availability of individual actors, budget windows, location availability, shoot complexity, how close the deadlines are, taxes, regulations, set building and teardown, even the weather!

You tell us!
Then please consider it an honest rhetorical question, from your standpoint.

Sorry. I'm not trying to be challenging. I'm just saying that 'streaming schedule' and 'BBC schedule' -- unless you know something we don't -- are basically black boxes; we, and I assume you, have no insight into either. With respect, you're the one who said "Sort of sounds like they adopted a streaming service style shoot schedule" which implies you know what a streaming schedule is, and you know what the BBC shooting schedule was (even assuming that changed, which is also a ... thing?) It's less a question more a statement with a whole bunch of uncited premises.

But it's all cool. You know nothing, I know nothing, none of us know anything, least of all what the shooting schedules are. :)

I have friends who have worked with streaming services, as crew.

The shooting and promo junket has been reported as pretty brutal by more than a few cast members. It was rumored that's where a lot of the tension with Eccleston even stemmed from (Fast-paced night shoots).
Back on Babylon 5, many of the crew and actors commented on how good planning meant they almost never ran late on shoots. I'm just sayin'.

(Though B5 had the advantage of being shot exclusively in a studio rather than having location shots where you're dependent on things like weather and daylight or the lack thereof.)
