Disney Gets In Bed With Sora

considering that disney fought long and hard to extend copyright laws not for it's artist care but for it's own pocketbook, this honestly is just another step
Disney is pure evil and modern copyright law exists only to serve this evil. It woukd be childishly naive to believe otherwise. Maybe this will finally wake people up to that truth (I doubt it. People are so brainwashed that despite it all they'll probably still continue to believe that IP law protects them from big corporations).

From the bottom of my heart I hope that the eventual rulings fall against them and that unregulated AI drives them (along with Warner Bros, Paramount, etc) out of business. Their business is obsolete

While there is some doubt about the legality of training AI on IP you don't have a specific license to in some countries -- that's why several other countries actively adopted regulation to ensure it's legal, removing the doubt there -- there is little doubt that using an AI generator to copy (and depending on where you are, redistribute) Disney characters will be illegal, in the same way that as doing it without AI, with regular pencils. I can't see the IP owners losing in court over this.

Edit: (outside of the fringe case of the very few countries not recognizing foreign IP of course).

Even with the exclusion of their characters if the rest of it remains legal it could still ruin them. Unless they're specifically interested in those specific characters why should anybody bother to do business with Disney if they can type in a few sentences and have their own custom-tailored product? Why would someone buy the mass market garbage that movie studios make when they could pay less money and get something specifically tailored personally to them?
