What rule does your group ignore?

This is what I do as well.. I envision the campaign as little "chapters" and when they reach a new chapter they level up... about 1/3 sessions.

    Winged Horde Flanking Question

Is that true? I thought that if you are dazed, for example, and your friend is on the other side of your target, you gain the benefit of flanking if you attack but your friend doesn't.

D&D Alumni: Cloakers! Cave Fishers! Babau!

Babau-oom-a-mow-wow Babau-ooma-wow-wow Well don't you know about the bird? Well, everybody knows that the bird is the word!

    Kobold Love ?

Shifty is great in the Eberron campaign — with the right dragonmark, your shifty lets you go 2 squares.

A question to those that give the expertise feat for free

I never thought about the "reduce defenses" option... I think I will replace my current "free expertise" with that — I want to foster improvised attacks and stunts and stuff like that.

DMs: What Powers Do PCs Get That You Hate?

Second wind. Because nobody but the dwarf ever uses it.

    Runepriest in Action?

Paragon paths and rune states Some of the paragon paths give you new rune states that you can enter instead of protection or destruction... I like the idea of new rune states, but doesn't that mean you don't get the special protection/destruction riders for all your powers?

    What's Your (Favourite) Role?

One of my favorite leader things is when your power gives an ally an attack, and that attack kills the monster. The striker thinks he won the day, but you really know it was your genius tactics that did it.

    MM3 Preview: MIMIC

Really? Impersonating people? Come on, we already have doppelgangers. I though the whole mimic schtick was that they disguised themselves as furniture, doors, sections of wall, pedestals, statues, etc. (note: in my mind I am complaining to the mimic, not to the designer...)

    What's Your (Favourite) Role?

Agreed. When I first heard about class roles, I thought it was limiting, but seeing it in practice I quickly changed my mind. It's important for everyone to know what their job is — and at the same time there is some flexibility. I've seen barbarians and avengers act as replacement defenders...

    What's Your (Favourite) Role?

I think the dad is primary defender, then leader, and, if he is lucky, controller. Definitely not a striker, though, except in extreme cases in his role as defender.

    What's Your (Favourite) Role?

Leaders, then strikers. I play mostly in LFR, so it's always a grab-bag assortment of characters; there seem to be a lot of strikers so defenders and leaders are always in demand. I just started playing a defender — it's ok but I guess I like the "back of the party" position better. I've...

Other uses for lamp oil? a question for DMs

Combine it with vinegar and powdered kobold horn for a delicious salad dressing. Or, if you are more adventurous, combine it with chaos dust for a delicious slaad dressing.

    Actions After Making Saves

I like spending an action point at the beginning of a round when I am with warlords... some of the boosts they do when you spend an action point last until the end of your next turn (e.g. insightful presence gives you a bonus to defenses).

    Rot Grubs!!!!

I recall an old Dragon article about ecology of the rot grub, which mentioned something about liches fearing rot grubs because the grubs could devour the lich while it rested. It seemed odd that these worms could damage an undead creature that damages with a touch that required +3 weapons to hurt...

How natural is natural? Best 3 of 6?

Even though caves are natural, I think in D&D they are not covered by the nature skill, instead that's what dungeoneering is for.

Dwarf Bard: Hammer as implement possible?

Please tell me your dwarf bard isn't going to be named MC Hammer. Did you hear about the dwarf who used a pick as an implement? He only played miner chords. Later he broke into rock music (talk about digging music!). His dice rolling was so bad he was basically a one-hit wonder.

Should the Bard have been primal?

Historically, most cultures don't differentiate power sources — you could easily say that in a Celtic framework, Druids and bards are divine, because they are priests. You could even say they are arcane, because they were the ones who studied the laws of magic, performing astronology, etc.

    Can we eat that?

In one of my adventures, I forced my players to make "rôti de owlbear à la compote de rose et pommes" (Google French for "Roast Owlbear with Rose Apple Sauce" for an extremely snooty and annoying restaurant critic (they owned a cheap tavern). First was the skill challenge to find special...
