    The Failure of Gleemax

Though I am no fan of Vista, there is a large difference between software which does not WORK, and software you do not LIKE. Vista does largely work...which is actually its problem, and a whole other kettle of fish.

    Players reading the MM

DURING the session is a no-no...I don't even put anything but Character resources where the players can get them, and I politely ask that nobody read thier own copies. Outside of the session, no problem but if I see that out of character knowledge creeping in too much, I might veto a character...

    IMPORTANT! Posting WotC articles wholesale...

But it's not for you to decide, unless you own it. Your guess to the motive of the owner might be right, wrong, or indifferent, but it's still not your choice. Doing something with someone else's property..real or intellectual...is one of the fundamental challenges to ownership under law, and...

How many orcs does it take to guard a pie?

No, but you do have to stop searching for 4e hate long enough to see the humor ;)

Did you retire characters at name level?

We didn't consciously set a stopping point, but the great majority of campaigns were concluded around 10-12th level...thieves a little higher due to thier fast advancement under old exp charts. I only recall one campaign move past that since 1981, we played into the high teens before the group...

    It's No Longer A Joke

Looks to me like the presmises of the old Immortals box set from B/X/C/M/I days, wrappered into the newest edition. If this fits your definition of "win", the concept came around years ago.

Whining on the boards and rule zero

And in many cases it would have taken less time and energy to simply change the rule to your liking and be done with it. I think it all boils down the inalienable right to anonymously complain ;>

Why does WotC have to apologize for making money?

Because too many people think brand loyalty and goodwill puts food on the table and a company afloat. Money puts food on the table and a company afloat

    Iron Man

Saw it last night, and although I've been a comics fan in general my whole life, Iron Man has always fallen in the middle of the pack for me. Having said that, the movie was surprisingly good...much closer to the top of the comic/superhero movies than the bottom.

Gandalf - Patient Zero of Bad DMPC Epidemic?

This is only true in the more recent incarnations of D&D...back in basic/early advanced it was actually assumed people would be all over the level range due to death, being out of contact, etc. While that arrangement was scrapped by a good many players over time in the name of balance, it was...

    Gamer Law

No. Part of the essence of Fun is having the ability to direct it yourself. A group of individuals may arrive at a concensus of Fun, and there's nothing wrong with that. Having one person..or written work...tell everyone else what is fun...makes it no longer Fun. I don't mean this with...

What will you do with the Economy Boost money?

Like most (it looks like), I'll pay off the new heat pump/furnace we had installed last fall...won't be much left after that. We've also got 3 kids, and the extra money coming because they exist will be going into thier college funds.

D&D is dying by the hour

No, it's not dying But I think it IS changing. I think WotC has changed the rules and flavor enough to lose a certain group of gamers who like what D&D WAS. They'll probably get at least that many new players who like what D&D has become, so the overall impact to D&D is probably neutralto...

His/her title looks like it says North Carolina/South Carolina/Georgia...might be willing to travel despite the cost of gas ;) Though probably not to our side of the country.

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo Annoucement!

Of course they did, not all business ventures succeed and there comes a point when you stop throwing good money after bad and change direction. There's certainly nothing wrong with that. Though I would love to see Pathfinder succeed on it's own, choices in the marketplace are always a good...
