I thought someone would have started this by now.

I don't know if am naive or if I was just tired, but I was surprised by a lot in this episode.

I thought the rescue was good action television.

I was surprised that Audrey was married even if separated.

I was surprised that the Arazs would kill their son. Not surprised that he survived.

I was surprised by the secretary allowing his son to be interrogated further.

On the other hand, I was not surprised there was an inside person nor that it was the beeatch. I was hoping otherwise.

I'm having some problems with this remote control device and how they were masking the attacks on the firewalls with the Internet traffic from the broadcast. Anyone else?

I thought the rescue scene was great. Made me think of the good old days of playing Counterstrike on my computer.

The terrorist family willing to kill their son - not surprised, but as they showed the mother crying I thought to myself "are we supposed to feel sorry for them?" I could not help but laugh at the inept terrorist that was supposed to kill the son. Bested by a scrawny kid with a shovel, that was funny.

The SoD allowing his son to be interrogated further - I guess CTU is off the hook for that one. I was hoping it would go in a different direction.

Is there anyone left at CTU to actually like?

I was surprised by SoD, giving the permission for his son's. err...whipping session.

BRING back Chole!!!!

Jack is Jack, and no is not an opition...

And also, it seems that the tribute to the helicopter pilot of Marine attack squadron, was in the film, flying his bird....that was nice and sad at the same time.

That override device, is a bit....out there, but the method to use it, was sound, using a diversion to mask the primary attack, has been my favorite tactics *oops* gave away my trade secret.

And oh, watch out for the jealous husband shoot you scene, I smell it a mile away.

Yep, like NTZ said, reminded me as well of Counterstrike. :)

If you're seperated but not married, then you'd be divorced... (unless I'm misreading your remark).
This was mentionned in the first show, IIRC, that she was still married but had seperated from her husband.

Yeah, the inside-person thing is getting old. Even though last season's insider was revealed to be part of a plan, it's still getting old. You'd think they'd have better screening when bringing in personnel on a highly critical case...

Well, they explained it as the broadcasts were generating so high traffic that the NIC (or whatever) wouldn't notice the attacks, since they'd be focusing on stopping the broadcasts, and not on the "hidden" traffic. At least that's how I understood it. Though the sys admin at those plants should have noticed the attacks, if they have a firewall that's worth 5$. They probably get attacked on a regular basis, but a coordinated effort should have rung some alarm bells...

That's my point. Doesn't matter how much traffic is generated across the Internet if there was a direct attack the firewalls/intrusion detection systems would still log the concentrated attack. They would know.

This is the first season of 24 I ever really watched. The first 15 minutes rocked. I saw the parents wanting to kill there son last week.

The SoD allowing the interoggation of his son was also not a surprise.

I don't think the lady is an inside agent with the bad guys. I think she might be working with the corparation that made the device. They knew what was stolen and have been keeping track. Thats my take.

Then again I can't predict whats going to happen on Lost and am pretty wrong there so what do I know.

Great episode! It had everything:
  • Jack Bauer saving the SoD in a great action scene.
  • William Devine (sp?) being an awesome character. He's like an older Jack Bauer.
  • The terrorist's main plans finally starting to reveal themselves.
  • A dirty hippie getting put through sensory-deprivation treatment.
  • A scrawny teenaged kid beating a terrorist assassin to death with a shovel.

All in all, great episode. Can't wait for next week.

Everything was going along nicely. And then the brought out the 'mole in CTU' card yet again and I said 'stick a fork in it, it's done'.

Sure, I loved seeing the hippy get tortured and then again when his dad said to do it again. I liked seeing the terrorist son beat the terrorist clean up guy with the shovel.

Beyond that, I've had to suspend my disbelief sooOOoo much this season that the last straw came when the chick called up saying they found out about the remote control.

If she works for the defense contractor, ok, that might salvage my viewership. I would like to see if my theory on Beruz is correct. Originally I thought he'd survive up to the end when Jack would kill him in front of his parents, but that doesn't seem like a plausible part of the plot now.

I guess I'll find out about the rest of the season from reading spoilersluts.com. :(

Yeah, up until the last five minutes, it was great. Then I was so rediculously disappointed. I really hope she dies in the next episode, or they've been tracking her, or something.

Also, on the internet thing, I took it to mean that they used some sort of distributed attack on the firewall using computers on the net, kinda like a DDoS, and thus it would be somewhat hidden by the focus on the broadcast. Perhaps even using the broadcast, which many people would have been watching, to get into people's computers somehow and use processing power to attack the firewall.
