When they get caught doing something bad, they call in the lawyers. Masses of lawyers. The lawyers start hacking away at the government. The lawyers make sure charges are never pressed on the CEO. Sure, a couple people in middle management make get sacrificed, but that's what middle management is for.

Now that would be a sucky episode.

CEOs of US government defense contractors do not try to kill federal agents. Ever. That was just retarded.

Agreed, but you can find one completely retarded moment in every episode. It's a rule of 24.

From what I've seen in previews,
it looks like a massive government conspiracy reaching as far as the President is involved. Maybe the government agents are the "sacrificial" equivalent of middle management in this scenario? I dunno.

People do dumb things under stress, yes. But killing federal agents? When Jack's superiors know WHERE and WHY he is there? Um, no. That's a one-way ticket to retardsville.

Like I said, I'll still give 'em a chance, but I'll only put up with so much of this before I bolt. :)

24 exists in an alternate universe. Its a universe where there has been a hostile nuclear weapon detonated on US soil. Its a world where there has been a weapons grade viral outbreak. Now its a world where there has been a major Chernobyl scale nuclear meltdown. The world of 24 is not our world and every season it seems to be drifting further away.

That said, I still don't see an evil corp trying to erase a government agent. It just makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. CTU knows about the terrorist employee, so there's nothing to hide there. CTU knows that Jack is there in the building, so they can't just kill him and expect to be off the hook. That was some craptacular writing. I hope they don't repeat this mistake.

Agreed. Next episode better be good to keep people interested. As it is I am tuning to see how they handle the Tony/Michelle situation.
