Unable to get past the whirling death machine, Mirage backs up until it passes. He tries to wait patiently but his tail swishes in anticipation.

[sblock=actions]move: L3[/sblock]

You can't cut corners with a diagonal movement, Velmont.

p.283

Also, don't forget the visibility modifier and cover. You and Garrick are the two PC who must remember the -2 to concealment against an opponent who isn't in the sunrod area of effect. And the corner gave the Monk another -2 for cover. So you were attacking at -4. That's 15 against 16, you missed. And since the only way to reach K12 was a move, not a shift, the monks makes an AoO.
[/sblock]

I would have never moved (as in not shifting) away from the monk... I would have rather try to pin him there with Booming Blade... Next time, if I do something that stupid because I'm not aware of a rule, can you just warn me instead of get me kill. I know I'm use to get killed, but there is some limit. :( [/SBLOCK]

[SBLOCK=OOC]Besides... the move Velmont wanted to do wasn't possible in the first place, since Leyra moved to K12 before Nathan. :p[/SBLOCK]

[sblock=OOC]I'll wait for the map edit before posting but if Dagran has moved down the corridor and Nathan has moved away from the doorway then Garrick will be attacking in some way[/sblock]

[sblock]Err... I was waiting for you to act before updating, Garrick! I figured you'd do something about the monk in the doorway, either throwing a shuriken or moving to attack in melee or whatever.

Anyway, I'll edit the map this evening.

Leyra; yeah, I lapsused when I retyped k12. He is at K14 on my current map.

Velmont; I maintained the original intent, which seemed to be vacating the doorway and lure him outside so that more PCs can attack him. Given his poor fortitude score (a pitiful 16) and your high AC (25 vs +12 to hit), it was a perfectly valid tactic even if you underestimated the real risks and odds of success. Quick math tells me that the worst case scenario (get hit by AoO and miss the lure attack) was only 22% while the ideal outcome (His attack misses and yours hit) was 27%.

To get even more geeky, his AoO does an average of 2.6 DPR (damage oer round) to you. Your lure provided 7.85 DPR (factoring in Dagran potential damage from a reaping strike) + 45% of letting Dagran mark him and prevent him from just shifting back and launching shuriken on his turn. That strikes me as a good tactic. (Get me in th OOC thread if you want to argue maths!)

Basically I saw no reason to do a complete retcon since the tactic struck me as perfectly sound, even factoring the penalties and risk of AoO.

[sblock=Dagran]It occurs to me that your character was prone after falling at K13. It takes a move to get up...

I gave you back your AP as reward for heroism in the previous fight so I'll spend it here to maintain your actions as is. I don't feel too guilty about this; for a foolhardy charge, it turns out to give a pretty good tactical position; you end up in a tunnel with no enemies behind, plus you tie an enemy by marking him. I think it's a good deal.

PS; you caught up with the one who had to stop and open the door. The other one freely double moved and isn't in sight.[/sblock]

[SBLOCK=OOC]You remember me a guy that is in Japan at the moment... ok, math makes your point good, you are forgiven... [/SBLOCK]

Leyra

Leyra takes a moment to catch her breath, then heads down the corridor to the next door as well, pulling out her own torch to light the way.

OOC: Second Wind; Move to I17; get Everburning Torch.
