True, but it can incapacitate them and leave them helpless against a coup de grace

Aha! I didn't see that it couldn't reduce a stat below 1; thanks! Dravot, how would it incapacitate an animal if it's not reducing a stat below 1?

re: Touch of Idiocy

Sounds like a very good spell; I wonder if there is a higher level physical variant of it, with a saving throw puhhhleeease :)

It's a good thing they banned multiple empowerings, because a doubly- or triply-empowered touch of idiocy could be _very_ nasty indeed.

Sure, but you can Empower+Maximize it (would that be 6+(1d6/2)?). There are probably other metamagics you can mix in to get around that limit.

The other insidious part is that it lowers his Will save by an average of 2 per casting.

The worst part is, it stacks with itself. So, if the enemy is helpless, you can just hit him with this three or four times until he's a drooling moron, and I'm sure we can all think of some evil strategies for that scenario.

Although a maximized one is still frighteningly good at stripping away somene's highest-level spells (assuming it's supposed to be balanced with 25 point characters, and core races).
