I thought they were going to lower the DR's when they changed the Damage Reduction. 15 is pretty high with the requirement for a lawful weapon. I guess I can assume that there is a spell that will make a weapon lawful because carrying around weapons for each alignment and material type is too tall an order for any party.

Actually, I'm thinking that lawful probably means a weapon with the "lawful" enchantment on it. Which means that, if the party wants one as a backup weapon, it'll cost them a minimum of 18,000 gp. Also, chaotic characters won't be able to use it, at least not without incurring penalties.

Re: Saves vs Titans Spells

I still think its spell saves DC are too low, im sure
most 20th level PC's will have a easy time saving
against most of its spells.

A DC 23 Reflex save still is far from a sure thing for even a 20th level fighter or wizard. And even if everyone does save, 8.5-10d6 damage to the whole party is nothing to sneeze at when the titan can do it as a free action.

The lawful property ought to work, but there is also an align weapon spell in 3.5e. I want to say it's 2nd level, but I'm not certain (and I'm working off of ShadowStar's lists and assorted other hints, not firsthand seen-the-book information). A chaotic cleric probably won't be able to make a weapon lawful, and I don't know if there will be any penalty for a chaotic character wielding a lawful-aligned weapon or not.

There may be lesser versions of the alignment properties, too, things that (for example) make a weapon "lawful" without also adding +2d6 damage.

Well, that's a bit better, but I can't help but wonder if this means we'll see everyone playing neutral characters in 3.5...

Hi all! :)

I like the new changes, although the Constitution seems a bit extreme - maybe should have been 27 (IMO).

Not that much stronger than the Pit Fiend (3.5) either.

It seems fine to me. I get annoyed when a monster has a massive Strength score but wimpy Con. I don't want to see too many more "high offense/low defense" monsters.

I'll probably give the titan full-plate IMC for an AC of 40. A 21st-level fighter, with a starting Strength of 15, can have an attack bonus of +36 easily enough.

(It really depends on availability of align weapon.)

PS for the pit fiend, I think a profane (and not deflection) bonus to AC would be preferable to very high Dex scores, but oh well. With it's low hit points, it needs a good Reflex save ;)

Agreed, although the titan's offense and defense seem a bit much...

Unless his "lawful" weapon happens to be his primary weapon, that's not too likely. If someone could just cast Align Weapon on his primary weapon, that would solve the problem, but I still need to see how the spell works.

Anyway, +36 bonus vs. AC 40 means his third and fourth attacks will almost always miss.

And what about the poor rogue?
