D&D 4E 4e D&D PC games

We know its going to happen eventually but it still a ways off so I guess really the only question worth asking is what type of game would you hope to see and who would you trust to make it ? (Yes I guess Xbox or PS3/4 Wii could have one not sure I'd play it ....)

The prime candidate in my mind would be a 4e Version of Neverwinter Nights done by Atari (and honestly I dont know if thats a good or bad thing as this stage)

However with the new desciptions of the system I think I'd enjoy a Baldur Gate style game where I could enjoy micromanaging my party and play with several builds at once, although a revamp of this style f game would also be nice, something new and groundbreaking maybe hehehe ok wishful thinking

as for a 4e D&D MMO , well DDO kinda missed the mark imho, and DDO2 would need to be a hell of alot better in all aspects, honestly I dont think the technology exisits to make an MMO true to D&D, perhaps when an AI can function as DM and can create and develop a world as players interact with it. Repeatable finite Questing FOR SUCH THE LOSE !

I toy'd with making this a poll but there really are too many possibilites

In my view they need to do more computer game releases, every year there should be a new game release or an expasions for all the following:

- Ultra tactical: Full control of a party of 4-6 and turn based. Something like the system used in TOEE, but without the bugs and with a great story.
- Real time tactical: Something along the lines of NWN, semi real time, lighter emphasis on micromanagement, cool effects/graphics.
- Action: lite rules, lots of the action, real time, good character options. Something like the lord of the rings console games and baldurs gate: dark alliance.
(- Oh and MMOPRG as well. but dnd online is doing that)

That is my view anyway. The computer games will feed more people back into the PnP hobby and the PnPiers will probably by all of the above games every year.

They really need strong stories, but they dont have the to hugely epic stories just good ones.

They need more creative control over the computer games, these are the key to growing DND in the future.

Baldur's Gate 3.. the Sword Coast after the FR disaster events, back to heroes doing heroic stuff, great subplots, party interaction, beautiful graphics.

NWN 3 (4e) sounds like a good idea (it's not done by Atari, BTW, they just publish it; it's done by Obsidian).

A *good* D&D MMORPG would be nice. Close to how you play tabletop with a group, just with multiple groups roaming a HUGE world (FR preferably).

And a ToEE style D&D game, maybe RttToEE? ;)

Bye
Thanee

I would love Baldur's Gate 3 ! Bladur's Gate 1 and 2, alongside with Planescape Torment, have always been my favorite computer RPGs.

After Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, the 3rd "city-game" could (and should!) be "Sharn - City of Towers".

I'd like a 4E Eberron game similar to either Neverwinter Nights or Temple of Elemental Evil in terms of gameplay. I think I'd prefer the customability of NWN 1 & 2 (mods) and the interface/gameplay ot ToEE. I guess round-based combat isn't suitable for online play, so I guess this means I need at least a second game for that. (Maybe one that is more like NWN 1 with focusing on the individual character instead of the party)

I think the atmosphere needs less "Grand Fantasy Epic" and more "pulp/film noir". (But that's not to mean exclusively that feel. Maybe it would be fine if the heroic tier was more film noir, then turning to pulp in paragon and epic, well, in epic, or something like this. But no style overdone...)

If they do a game which is like ToEE in getting to control a full party on a round basis, and like BG in having a complex story, I'd certainly play it whatever the ruleset.

I have to say that I'd love a TOEE style game. Control over all the members of your party, micro management on a turn based system. It would of course require a lot of improvements over TOEE itself - and not just bug fixing. Better resource management systems, more variety of resources, the ability for users to write their own modules to add into it, etc. But in terms of getting to use the system, play through a variety of options, and get to grip with the rules it's the closest I've seen to what you actually play PnP. But it would require the ability for users to build and share their own modules - repeatedly playing through the same game would get dull.

I felt the interface for TOEE was excellent, but the game was unplayable. There is a big market for turn based DND.

I feel a big push for DND licensed games would have a big knock on effect on the PNP edition.

A new Icewind Dale-style game that is heavy on combat and light on story. Doesn't have to be Icewind Dale of course, and i would prefer a different little known geographical area.
