D&D General 50th Anniversary- Are You Not Entertained?

No, I understand. I turned 31 a few months ago. My parents called me and asked what I was doing and what I wanted..

"What do you mean what am I doing? I'm working like every other day! What I want is PTO."

Yeah... On the one hand, it just seems obvious that D&D's 50th birthday ought to be celebrated with a huge shindig and lots of excitement, right?
But on the other hand, I think about my own 50th birthday, and suddenly "meh" makes a lot more sense.

... but overall, as I reflect on my level of interest ... I am, most decidedly, not entertained. What about the rest of you ... is the 50th Anniversary living up to your expectations?

As far as RPG products go, I can't say I had much higher expectations than what's announced. We're getting a 50th-aniversary re-edition so that's not insignificant. I would have expected something Greyhawk-related however...

I was expecting some kind of publicity stunt, but there's still time for that. We're probably too far from the '24 edition release dates for a "come buy our new book... in 9 months!" commercial.

May sound like a dumb question, but last time I was asked I was 18. Its kind of nice that somebody cares.

I think very few people care about it as much as some people on this forum.

Given how many companies make a huge deal about their big anniversaries -- and 50 is a big one -- I don't think that's remotely true.

that assumes there is something to announce, I don’t think there is…

I mean, 6 RPG products, a new Organized Play competitive tournament module series, 3 novels, a feature length historical documentary...but there is probably stuff we don't know yet, too.
