D&D 5E 5e EPIC MONSTER UPDATES

I myself don't know as Gruumsh's stat blocks have usually been too big and unwieldy for me. But I do know that consumed the Blood of one of his avatars have this move in 3.5

Gruumsh’s Glare (Su): Once per day, a Gruumsh-blooded
orc can cause a baleful, glowing red eye to appear in his
empty eye socket. The eye creates a 60-foot cone of red
energy. All creatures in this area must succeed on Fortitude
saves (DC 10 + 1/2 the orc’s HD + his Con modifier)
or be paralyzed for 1 round. Elves take a –4 penalty on
this save.
Gruumsh’s Fury (Su): Once per day, as a swift action, a
Gruumsh-blooded orc can draw upon the power of the divine
blood within his body to gain a +4 bonus (+8 against elves)
on damage rolls for the rest of his turn

Giving Gruumsh something like this but making it much better sounds right.

Cool - thank you for the help. I always like to add interesting powers - I'll get that added.

Honestly I don't know if a gaze attack is iconic to Gruumsh, but in 4e, he was the unwilling progenitor of the Formorians and Cyclops, both of who had gaze abilities...or at least I think they came about after rats ate the eye that Corellon cut out. It seems like in earlier editions he had one big eye in the center of his head (and you know that one big eye ought to do something), but his 4e origin makes me think he had one eye and one hole, although that seems a little redundant with Vecna running around.

I just added the repeater to the Monstrosities category. Unfortunately I am having an issue with the formatting so it is under the 2nd "spoiler." Anyway, the repeater is receiving an update from its BECMI days of the Immortal Handbook. Let me know what you think.

FYI, this is another attempt to make an epic level monster that isn't a "legendary" monster.

The pre-4e lore was back and forth on the eye issue a believe. Personally I really dig the 4e lore that was in Dragon about Gruumsh and Corellon. I think I'll add a gaze attack, more options the better imo.

The only changes I wouldn't make are to Tiamat, Bahamut, and Ahat-Hir. Though I would entertain making a lower powered versions as well.

I would like a CR 30 version of Tiamat, to concile with official rating. I've really never liked her as an official goddess, but prefer her more as the Queen of Evil Dragonkind with diety like powers.

Also, I have a question about your Tiamat stat bloc. It says she has 5 attacks, but if she uses more than 3, she must use legendary actions. I don't understand what that means?

IMO, Correllon, Gruumsh and Moradin are too powerful. They are traditionally racial gods, and imo shouldn't be more powerful than gods dedicated to widespread domains (i.e. gets worshiped by many races). Just suggestions.

I really enjoy this kind of work and will probably steal a lot for my own game. I do think I will lean closer to official CR for demon princes etc.

Also really looking forward to your material on epic boons etc.

I had a CR30 and CR35 version of Tiamat to go along with my CR40 version, but I accidentally deleted them. I will definitely revive at least my CR30 version.

Tiamat's actions: The intent was to allow Tiamat to use all of her head attacks on here turn, but if she does so it will cost her some legendary actions. Thus, she can't use 5 head actions on her turn and then use them for legendary actions as well. I will try to rework the wording.

Regarding the ranking of the gods, they are all subjective and I am willing to change them if I am provided good evidence, reasoning, or precedent to do so. I Change Tharizdun a couple of times. However, here is why I ranked the 3 you mentioned. If you have a counter argument I am willing to here it; however, at this point I won't be changing Gruumsh and Correllon anytime soon.

Moradin is equal to the most powerful gods in 1e (400 HP - Max, head of pantheon, greater god) and 3e (Greater Deity, DR 19) and he was insinuated to be the most powerful god in 4e (lvl 40).

Correllon is among the most powerful gods in 1e (350 HP, greater god) and 3e (Greater Deity, DR 19) and he could be inferred to among the strongest in 4e (above lvl 36)

Gruumsh is among the most powerful gods in 1e (350 HP, greater god) and 3e (Greater Deity, DR 16) and he could be inferred to among the strongest in 4e (above lvl 36)

That is the background for my rankings. If you have other evidence, send it my way and I will consider changing them. Thank you for your thoughts and comments!

Thanks for clarifying your reasoning. I can see why you have made the choices you have.

I would really like a CR 30 (and CR 35, if it's not too much bother) version of Tiamat.

I have added an avatar of Tiamat in the Lesser Gods Section. It is a CR30 version of Tiamat like the official version, just modified to follow my guidelines.
