8 power sources. so what are the other 4?

I posted this on WoTC Forum, but might as well also put this here:

If Shadow doesn't encompass illusionist-abilities then. Illusions would be one, with Beguiler being one of the classes for it.

The second, I dunno so just gonna list of random ones:

-Monstrosity/Mutation: This Power is built around the concept of the character always being in a state of constant change, his body warping and twisting with only some control over it. (Note: It would be animal-type changes so to differentiate with Druids). Could share a relation with the Far Realm.

-Reality: These are people who manage to peel back the corners of the universe and interject their own will into it. They can alter Reality to suit their needs both subtly and powerfully. Could also share a relation with the Far Realm.

-Ki: We all know about Ki.

-Abysmal: These are the agents of destruction, their powers serve no purpose beyond absolute destruction. They are based entirely on eliminating life and energy from the universe. Directly related to demons and the abyss.

Okay, I realise this thread has been de-railed and is currently crashing down the mountain at the hands of some form of Cheese-powered Controller class, but I would like to offer two serious suggestions, the first:

Dragon.

Yes, it's a bit arcane, but the dragon classes of 3.5 (well, the Dragon Shaman and Dragonfire Adept) always seemed to be a bit different and distinct from the others. I'd say it was a good place to put the sorceror, but I realise many people dislike the idea that 'all sorcerors and the distant offspring of giant magical lizards'. So then I put forward my second, and in my opinion better, suggestion:

Blood.

Your character's powers stem from an innate connection with whatever horrible creatures have been mixed in with your bloodline. An Infernal-blooded Sorceror would learn fire and poison attacks, his body slowly morphing to mimic the mighty pit fiend, while the Dragon-blooded Sorceror gains breath weapons and fear spells to compliment his tough scaly skin and wings. You could even throw in celestial, fey, shadow and, for the far-realm fans, aberrant blood. I imagine your character slowly evolving over your adventuring career from being humanoid and becoming something far worse to be pretty, uh, awesome.

"Marital" power is already in the style guide as a Typo to Watch Out For.

And the Care Bear Stare is an uber-high level daily power, especially when used by Mark Waid's JLA. </geek>
Okay, I'm as geeky as they come when it comes to DC, but THAT went over my head. What?

As for "Marital": what a joykill! :D Next thing you know, there'll be no red, green, blue, gray and death salads...

Not metaphorical enough.

Power source: Taint
Power source: Dark side

Actually, I quite like blood.

But more in the Vampirella, I can use blood to fuel my magic kind of fashion.

Voodoo-esque.

But yeah.. no real fit.

I would expect to see these as conditions and maybe even templates rather than power sources, but that's just IMHO. Same with Taint and Dark Side (aren't they the same thing?).

Can't believe no one mentioned THE power source most likely to appear (due to a simple typo):

Marital power source.

Husband - Marital Defender
Wife - Marital Controller
Mother-in-Law - Marital Leader
The Ex - Marital Striker

Nah, Husband = Leader, Wife = Defender, Mother-in-Law = Controller, and Teenager = Striker. :)

My votes:

Known (4 of 8): Arcane, Divine (connected to the Astral Sea), Martial (a.k.a. Ki/Chi), Psionic

5) Primal (connected to the Feywild - Druids, Sorcerers, Barbarians, etc.)
6) Shadow (connected to the Shadowfell - Beguilers, Illusionists, Necromancers, etc.)
7) Elemental/Energy (connected to the Elemental Chaos - Summoners, Wu Jen, etc.)
8) Taint (relating to the Far Realm - Alienists, Void Disciples, etc.)
