First Post
I a going to try this here because my post on the Wizard's boards was deleted without comment.

Basically, I would like to see Monty Cook thrown out of WoTC, ejected, kicked to the curb, shown the door, excommunicated, you get the point.

He writes a regular column were he seems to dislike the current build of the game, pines for earlier editions, posts leading and generally unhelpful polls, and accomplish little of any real worth.

I have a bad feeling he is working on 5th edition, as they are paying him to do something on staff, and it sure as heck isn't write those stupid legends and lore articles.

I have a feeling that I will be on the grognard side of the next edition war if Monty's musing are the direction we are heading, which seem to be some kind of rules lite 3rd ed clone mixed with the gallbladder squeezing of the undead.

As Dylan said, you dont have to be a weather man to see which way the wind blows, and as far as I can tell it blows toward utter crap. I would like to formally petition WoTC to fire Monty Cook, ban him from the building, and if anyone else feels the same way please add your comments and name.

Thank you very much.

I was originally going to simply report this post as a petition for physical violence.

May I instead ask you to kindly exert self-moderation and remove certain elements in your OP, e.g. the phrase "kick to the curb"?

I also think "ban him from the building" stretches it quite a bit - though I admit I had to laugh at the idea of WotC issuing a restraining order on a person on the sheer basis of his design decisions.

Seriously, however much one may dislike current or upcoming design decisions, I don't think you need to go quite that far to voice your dislikes.

Also, if you want to earnestly create a petition list you'll fare much better to garner support if you can express your sentiments in a more moderate manner.

-Just because he has certain opinions favoring previous editions, doesn't mean that he cannot set them aside and objectively work on a new edition. Even if it does, new editions are designed in teams and playtested by groups to moderate the influence of any one person.
-I think petitioning to get someone fired just because you dislike their opinions is a bit extreme. Having been unemployed, I would not willingly inflict that situation upon anyone. Especially in a situation where people are judging the man before the results of his labors have been shown.

I can see why WotC would have deleted that without comment.

On EN World, everyone's got a right to an opinion. However, we ask posters to keep themselves to reasoned critique. And, while the quality of a person's public professional work is certainly open for comment, we expect our users to stop well short of directly insulting people.

Your hyperbolic and rather personal phrasing seems rather shy of what we'd prefer to see around here.

And, well, the idea that others are supposed to leave their comments and names, but you go by a pseudonym in the OP, seems just wrong to me.

So, thread closed.
