Ability Score Rating

THe game is not, to me at least, about having the most powerful characters and the highest numbers. Lots of times weaknesses are actually more fun then being near good at everything.

Or... what the hell is this all about!? :p

6x 18 is a 6
6x 15 is a 5
6x 12 is a 4
6x 9 is a 3
6x 6 is a 2
6x 3 is a 1

Or using PB:

6x 18 is a 6
6x 16 is a 5
6x 14 is a 4
6x 12 is a 3
6x 10 is a 2
6x 8 is a 1

;)

Bye

Well, it would be best to just come out and ask:

Bartmanhomer, how did you generate those ability scores?

Generation doesn't matter. I think the question is for what purpose are the characters to be used? Is it just creating characters for fun? Are this going to NPCs in his game? Or is he the player of these cvharacters?

I just use my head and made those numbers up. You could do that, right?

Yes and no. It relaly depends on what the final goal is. If you are playing in someone's game usually they have rules restricting what the numbers can be. For instance there is point buy or rolling dice to determine the numbers. If you are the DM, then you can just create the stats like this but you need to make sure they don't over shadow the PCs.

It just comes down to what the purpose of it is. There is no real wrong way, just preferences of people.

What kind of purpose?

Are these stats for NPC's in a game you are running? Are they for a character in another person's game? What will you be using them for?

Or, as Crothian asked, are you just making characters up for fun (i.e. you aren't planning on using playing them)?

I'm planning on playing them! Why?

Have you talked to the GM who is running the game you are going to be playing in? Usually, they have stat generation methods that are more consitent and fair for all the players.
