Adding another log. Lightning Panther Strike.

But what if there's a counterpart ability for lazy, fat, immobile barbarians called "Slothful Panther Strike" that they use when someone gets in range (and they actually decide to expend the effort) to bite them wherever happens to be close to the barbarian's mouth?

I like that, it reminds me of that classic swords-and-sorcery figure, Homer the Barbarian.

That's assuming the Lightning refers to the Strike, and there isn't some kind of Lightning Panther, which could, ironically, be quite slow.

We heard not that long ago that Dragon Tail Cut was nixed after many people whined and moaned about it.

It is entirely possible that they have since gone back to revise many or all of the names like this for the PHB, but since Races and Classes had already gone to press, the names still are in that book.

I know, that kind of rational thought isn't as much fun as teeth-gnashing.

I think you're missing the point.

This preview suggests that you will be able to play a barbarian who... leaps on his enemies with his bare hands and bites them in the face!

That's much more important to me than an ability name.

That just seems so Tarzan. Now if they can just give barbarians incentive to doff armor... Magical loincloths would be nice.

Frankly, rational thought is rarely as much fun as mocking an easy target until you can barely breathe from laughing so hard.

Until now I have sat back and been fairly tame in my comments about 4e.
But some crap deserves outright public shaming. It already went to press
is no excuse, and it's certainly not an excuse I want to hear about in the PHB.
If they had told us things like the "Dragonborn" earlier and made corrections before things went into print, they wouldn't be getting such scorn. But no. They have to hide things so they can have a big reveal.

I don't have a tremendous amount of evidence that Wizards is listening to us when we complain about this garbage. Maybe if I chuck some eggs at the giant stupid targets they set up for us, they'll pay attention.

I'm not anti-4e. I'm happy to get a new edition. But the current trajectory is not going to cut it.
