Adventure: Fire and Ice

Ingot moves to support its fellow warforged while remaining close to the diamond. "Vulkar, lend me the fires of your forge..." It raises a hand and points it at the cultist by the eastern doorway. A flame leaps from its fingertips and streaks to the cultist, who shrieks and drops to the ground.

-''Well, Crag isn't over the hyena yet, is he?'' Hadrak says playfully to Skaliss, as he moves right behind him. ''I got your back, we'll hold that front as long as we need to!''

Hadrak then casually launch a bolt toward the nearby goon. Too casually. He misses.

-''Ahem. Just getting warmed up, don't worry, I got something else up my sleeve... RIGAS! THE GREAT FORGER HAS JUDGED YOU AND FOUND YOU WANTING! YOU WILL NOT PASS!'' Hadrak bellows in a powerful voice.

As Dorn flies up from under the pew, a wash of cold mist can be seen coalescing around him

"This isn't a very courteous way of saying good morning," Dorn says, his voice strangely polite.

"Why don't we all just chill out?"

Dorn conjures mental shards of ice and hurls them, invisibly, at one of the cultists. The cultist falls. Another cultist watches in horror, only to find his own mind assaulted as well, another even roll means another attack. . Yet another cultist watches in shock, wondering what is happening, and he too, falls.

The blowback from all these psychic energies blasts into Rigas, but the buck stops with him.

Dorn surveys the damage he has wrought with a single thought.

"Whoa."

Seeing the southern group of enemies decimated, Crag tramples the pews in front of him, ignoring any attacks that come his way. The cultist is so shaken by his allies deaths that it gives him pause, but the hammer brings down his weapon on Crag's shoulder hard. Slamming into the foe in front of him, he shoves his sword into the ground and calls on Terra. Terra responds to her guardians call and sharp spikes of earth rise from the ground all around Crag's foe, sure to cause some pain to any moving through the area! Pulling his sword from the ground, Crag raises it above him in triumph, creating a ring of stone around him and his foes, ensuring that they'll have a much harder time attacking anyone but him.

"You cowards had BETTER face me. I will track you down to the ends of the earth and I will NEVER stop until you fight me. This fight ends NOW. Either you destroy me, or I destroy you. There is no other way!"

Skalisss moves to block the south door and calls upon his god for protection.

"May the tidesss purify thisss ground Great Netari!"

"Go now Rigasss while you ssstill can..."

The dragonman laughs and the hammerers get to work, they all call out in unison "For Ershahz!" as their weapons erupt in alternating blue and red flames. The southern one moves closer to Hadrak, but doesn't wish to draw Netari's wrath. The blow moves right towards Skalisss' neck, but Netari's white light appears to deflect the strike.

The other enemies around Crag have more luck however as they move to surround the warforged, their feet drawing wounds from the spikes and the cultist falls grabbing his stubbed toe. They bring their hammers down hard on Crag, causing deep wounds as the wood and metal body of him snaps and breaks, dark fluid leaking out.

Rigas confidently strides in the room, moving next to Skalisss and unleashes a gout of blue/red flames that catches Hadrak full on, but Dorn manages to duck thanks to the pew. He then turns to his attention to Skalisss, "Pretender, now you face a true dragon!" he says, but the bluster is for naught as his claws fail to penetrate the plate of the dragonborn, however his right claw catches the dwarf for a minor wound.

*As an FYI, this fight has confirmed my long-standing belief that minions are useless except to maybe take 1 attack roll (although I hoped with no controller they'd fare a bit better, but nope, good job Dorn)

[sblock=Renaug1]Did you forget to substract the 6 points of damage or did you deduct it at the source, from the attack roll (Meaning you Rolled 2D6 instead of 2D6+6-6 and 1D10+4 instead of 1D10+10-6 ?)

I am guessing the later because it seems very unlikely that Rigas is just rolling 2D6 normally for damage, but I just wanted to be sure. If so, whew, good thing he had -6!!

Also, I have 37 hp now, so I am 22/37 right now. Therefore I am not bloodied. You can check my new block stat, it is up to date.

Hadrak is undaunted by Rigas fury and retaliate with a powerful torrent of radiant energy that sears to flesh of his enemies and bolster Skaliss with divine might.

-''Strike them down, Skaliss! Show him who is the pretender!''

[sblock=Skaliss]You have +2 to every attack so it's time to make as many attacks as dragonly possible in one turn. Breath and spend your AP![/sblock]

[sblock=Ingot and Crag]Ingot, don't forget Crag! I would have healed him but my minor is tied by sustaining the Astral Condemnation and since Rigas hits like a ton of brick, I am loath to release it.

I am realizing simulteneously that this power rocks but that needing to sustain it with a minor action is a greater price to pay for a cleric than for a wizard![/sblock]

Dorn quickly moves to aid Crag (OOC: Move to H13), hoping to lay low the enemies surrounding him before they can take down the mighty 'forged.

"NnnngAAAHAHAHASDGFADSFHHA!!" Dorn shouts. Psychic energies overwhelm his mind, but they do not have the desired affect. Instead, an enormous shockwave of energy blasts forth, pushing away both friend and foe (OOC: Bedeviling Burst misses both Hammers, but the second roll was natural 1, so every creature within 5 squares (which is everyone) is pushed one square. Gotta love Wild Magic...)

Yeah I just deducted at source. It is a very good thing that you have that power... very good indeed. Don't forget to add "Life Transference to your stat block...

[sblock=OOC @renau1g, Kalidrev]renau1g, so sorry about your minions... not! But by the way, in DMG2 they advise not throwing all the minions into the fray at once, but letting them come in waves. They are less likely to get all wiped out at once that way.

Also, it looks like you forgot the 1 THP Ingot granted to Crag. Though he took such a pummeling it's hard to tell...[/sblock]

Ingot's eyes blaze brightly as it watches its comrade Crag take a pounding from the hammerers. It starts to move to the other warforged's aid, only to be rocked back by the wild magic bursting forth from Dorn. Shaking its head, it resumes its course, praying as it closes with its target. "What our enemies' hammers have damaged, let Vulkar's hammer repair..." Divine energy flows around Crag, and his damaged chassis groans and pops as it is repaired.

Reaching the closest hammerer, Ingot draws its fullblade back for a big swing. The steel glows as it fills with divine light.

[sblock=Actions]
Invisible Castle seems to be down. :( So no rolls... renau1g, if you feel like rolling real dice to keep things moving, go for it.
Move: Move to... ?? Not sure where everyone stands after the wild magic push. Ideally I'd like Ingot to flank Hammerer 1 with Crag. I'm not even 100% sure Ingot will be able to close to melee range (Move 5) after the push... but I think so, since the push on Ingot can just push him one square north, and none to the west.
Minor: Healing Word on Crag: Healing Surge value + 1d6 + 3
Standard: If Ingot can flank, Healing Strike vs. Hammerer 1; +9 vs AC; Hit: 2d12+4 radiant damage (Hit Crit), and the target is marked until the end of Ingot's next turn. In addition, Crag can spend a healing surge (adding +3 hp for Healer's Lore). If Ingot can't flank, it will use Righteous Brand. +7 vs AC, 1d12+4 damage, +4 to crag's next melee attack vs. the target. (I'm sick of missing with Healing Strike!)
EDIT: Crag is popping his second wind and warforged resolve. I'd like Ingot to delay until after that, and definitely use Righteous Brand instead of Healing Strike, if it's not too late for me to change...
(If Ingot can't get into melee range because of the push, it will use Sacred Flame instead.)[/sblock]

Thanks for the tip, I'll remember it in the future. As a mechanism I like the idea of minions, but I'd rather have 1 soldier vs 4 minions. I've updated Crag's HP. thanks for the catch
