The bell is on the far side of the bridge, perhaps thirty feet away from the end of the bridge, which itself is 20 feet across.

Finally seeing the women move, Spider realizes they are in fact real. "Ahhh, I see now. Dem oomen must be workin fo dat Ismene ooman. Back in Ristaren, dey say she be stealin from da rich. Maybee I an I outta get to lookin mo po 'fore I an I try ta cross, ya 'ear?"

"Maybe they're ta be lettin' us cross wit' outta fight," Graval shakes his head, unbelievingly. "Crazy o' meself fer sayin' that, but these girls don' be lookin' fer a fight themselves."

OOC: Personally, I think trying to talk our way through would be the easiest. At least this way, if things go south of cheese, we'll be closer to the bridge than if we charged out, screaming.

[sblock=ooc]I agree that trying to talk our way across is probably the best bet (is Eraden still with us? haven't heard from him in a while). Perhaps the people with truly crappy diplomacy/bluff can try using Intimidate or physical skills to assist (to simulate just looking dangerous and impressive rather than abusing anyone).

Edit: Goldenhorn looks like bandit-bait, what with all the jewelry he wears. He probably won't bother taking it off unless it's pointed out to him.[/sblock]

OOC: Just read everything all caught up. My diplomacy is stupidly high at 14 and Eraden would speak to them before we start any fight, he is a palladin after all. If all agree I guess I can start off, telling the truth mostly but leaving out the marrige portion, although remember Eraden won't lie.

OOC: Goldenhorn's not much of a liar either. We can play up the hobgoblins as a common enemy while seeming too dangerous to be worth taking the trouble to attack.

OOC: Let's get this show on the proverbially road then.

"Gotta cross this bridge ta be gettin' Mall'by ta his pretty bride, what, so we try talkin' a bit," Graval says as he starts towards the bridge. "Jus' be ready fer shooters 'cross tha way."

He walks slowly, stopping within a few paces of the two women. "Fine day fer a stroll, eh?" he asks, looking between the guards.[sblock=Graval]Graval Metalrent - Male Dwarf Fighter 1
