Adventure: Hey! That's Not Wayne's Basement! (DM: H.M.Gimlord, Judge: Ozymandias79)

Rujah readies his hammer to 'force' the door, and quickly realizes that it would be easier to try the bar. It lifts without any great effort and the door swings open onto a lamp-lit city street with a spring fog hanging thick in the air. There are people on the street, things seem like they'ere still busy even though it is after dark.

[sblock=Rujah]The door is barred from the inside, and removing the bar takes effort, but it's non-heroic effort. The door swings open easily. No skill check needed, so no skill check expended. You get your turn back. Try again.

[sblock=Riardon] History Success: You are certain that this is not, architecturally speaking, Varquat's basement. The style is completely foreign to the Transitive Isles in general. The timber-work is Teak and Cedar the likes of which you cannot recall. In Daunton, this would be so exotic, that a Brewer would never go to this kind of expense just for his keg cellar, and to top it all off, you explicitly recall that Varquat does NOT make wine.

The foundation is sandstone block, not granite like what you saw outside Varquat's brewery. This extends down from the ceiling for about 8 feet. The rest of the cellar's foundation is carved directly out of the sandstone bedrock. Again. The bedrock in Daunton is granite as well.

You notice that block foundation seems to be sagging along the wall behind the huge casks at the back of the room.

[sblock=Fenwick] Not sure that you decided to go upstairs, so I'll hang back until things are more certain.[/sblock]

I used 'Adventure: Hey! That's Not Wayne's Basement! (DM: H.M.Gimlord, Judge: ?)' as room...

Tried anew and hot a 10 (21 with mod)

Yeah. I feared that someone would do that, right after I posted the original instructions that just said ...'use the title at the top of the page' or something like that. I should have given you a line to copy right then, because I had already created the room. Sorry about that. 21 it is though. Congratulations on the success.[/sblock]

Well, I've um... opened the door to the outside which was not the outside through which we entered. Anyone have any recommendations on what I ought to do next? I'm rather confused as to what would be best for Rujah to do at the moment. Am I suppose to be making use of my trained skills?[/sblock]

[sblock=HM] Sure, what the heck [/sblock]

Fenwick muses aloud "Sound like people communicating upstairs. Fenwick go ask them."

He then tromps over to the stairway leading up to the upper level, and checks to see if the door is locked.

I would report, but stay down here, and use the skill with the highest bonus. If you are trained in one of the primary skills the DM listed, use that. Otherwise, if you have a non-primary skill with a bonus better than 8, you might want to use that. Essentially, non-primary skills are -8 to hit the same DC.

Checking your sheet... looks like nature is you best roll.

Rujah paces the cellar as he returns to the group to report his findings. "It would appear the entrance we entered is no longer the entrance we entered. The outside is not the same as it was... unless we've been down here for several hours already... this is so strange..." The dragonborn mused, before shifting his weight to spread his legs slightly within the stone confines, closing his eyes and focusing as he attempted to get in touch with the earth beneath his feet... perhaps the earth would tell him something his eyes will not...

"Hmph," Jin grunted, thinking about their current situation. "I guess that makes sense, if that guy was telling the truth about this not being his cellar. Hopefully, the answer is somewhere inside here."

Then, thinking about it, "Fenwick! Get back here. I don't want to lose you if this place moves again."

[sblock=OOC]Waiting for round two to take action. [/sblock]

"It's not the cellar we should have entered. I'm not sure we are even still on the transitive isles." Riardon muses.

Has still to be approved to 2nd level.

Fenwick reaches the top of the stairs and turns the handle just enough to notice that the door is not locked. Before he pushes it open, however, he hears Jin's reaction to Rujah's news.

[sblock=BB] I'm going to let you react to Jin's advice before you take an action. Regardless of what you do, things will be interesting. [/sblock]

While Jin attempts to warn Fenwick of the consequences of opening strange doors, Rujah takes the time to get in touch with the earth.

[sblock=Rujah]Success Nature: You stretch your senses through your legs and into the sandstone earth beneath your feet, which you sadly sense is devoid of life and nutrition. The composition, however, gives you an idea of what to look for. You open your eyes and trace the strata in the grains of sandstone that form the foundation of the cellar.

As you attempt to examine the strata behind the huge casks, you notice that the wall behind the casks at the back of the cellar is not carved out from the sandstone. The sandstone block-and-mortar foundation that lines the top of the other three walls, extends all the way to the floor on the wall behind the casks.
