[Adventure] Lost Love (DM: Velmont - Judge: Renau1g)

[sblock=ooc]I am under the impression we rested for 5 - I seem to recall that and I think we'd have done it anyway. We were about to leave for the surface when these guys showed up.

As for healing: my suggestion is just go ahead. If he's about to die from a slap in the face, then really healing is all we can really do for the guy. If that kills him too, then honestly there was no way for our group to save him and we did all we could. I think it's cool; that's honestly all we can do for him.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Seconding Bob. If we can't heal him, he's probably dead already.

Does Pis get an action during the surprise round, or is his action to not take that readied action?[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Okay, makes sense. Here goes.

This is assuming we only get a surprise round with one action.[/sblock]

With no time to call upon his guide, Jarren's connection to the spirit world is considerably more tenuous and his usual more subtle methods of channelling are abandoned. "Sisters, a boon," he calls out, his voice echoing strangely and his eyes glazed.

His call is answered momentarily as two slim young shifter girls step out of thin air next to Jasper, their forms ghostly and insubstantial. They look to be twin sisters, perhaps twelve years old, dressed in hides. Their blonde hair is soaked with water and garlanded in bright flowers. They smile in tandem and reach to lift Jasper to his feet, giggling, and each whisper something in his ear before skipping away into nothingness.

[sblock=OOC]Spirit of Life used on Jasper, he can spend a surge.[/sblock]

Everything happen suddenly. As the body of the worker starts to fall to the ground lifelessly, Talkrai's eyes flare with anger, although she continues to speak not a word. With thoughts of pity for the other workers, she channels her power inward and then out again. Suddenly, she is standing in front of the armored man, facing him with sword at the ready, and Jasper is now out of his reach.

Pis hesitate but decide to not jump into the water.

Before Jasper knows what is happening, the Gnome whisper a word and Jasper receive a mind slash. His nose starts to bleed as he fall lifelessly on the ground.

As Talkrai’s psionic abilities flare, Ryda unloads on the Gnome, striking him dead center of the chest, blood spraying from the vicious wound. Her rage at the dead worker drives her forward, eager to resume the hunt.

It is only then the worker body hit the ground quickly followed by Jasper bodies.

The gnome doesn't lose time. "Hold them off!" He then turns around and climb the step two by two. He is followed by one of the swordman. As both escape your hears the gnome shouting "Kill the hostage!"

The second swordman cleave through Talkrai who get a serious wound to the waist, the pain hindering for a time her movement. The swordman move back to block the way back to the wind chamber.

[SBLOCK=OOC]Their is no surprise round, so ignored the partial action of Jarren and Unit 16 for this post. The gnome and the swordman1 had both readied actions too. Initative will determine who goes first in order of readied action. Initiative => Enemies are going first.

[sblock=OOC]2 questions, with the gnome being back in the hallway, how did he have line of sight/effect to Jasper? 2: Jasper is dead, no death throws or bleed out? Also, can I get an update in the full map including the gnomes location? I have the ability to move a lot.[/sblock]

[sblock=Triggered Reaction]I don't know what I'm going to actually do with Tal's turn. I need to think; but before anyone else did anything I thought I'd toss this in.

Talkrai being bloodied triggers Ardent Alacrity (it's a no action power). This allows Ryda and Unit 16 a free action to either shift 1 square or move half their speed.[/sblock]

Pis runs to the stairway and gracefully leaps over the swordsman, blowing him a kiss as he flies over. He bounds up the stairs and slashes at the legs of the swordsman guarding the lever. His blade does little real harm but drives the swordsman back. With the lever unguarded he calls behind him, "Susan, anyone, hit the lever before he escapes!"

[sblock=Actions]Move: move to B33
Standard: Actobatic Stunt over swordsman: 25
AP: Move to A29
Minor: Throw lever and activate trap

Note:OA provoked from A32[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]The gnome hasn't escaped at all. We've all got action points and most of us have some kind of ranged attack.

I can see the gnome has LoS, but Jasper should have superior Cover, which would be a -5 to the gnome's roll.[/sblock]

[sblock=Alternate Action]If Pis cannot throw the lever, for whatever reason, He'll instead Low Slash the enemy in A28. He'll then call out "Susan! Hit the Lever before he escapes!"
Minor: Low Slash: 20 vs. Reflex for 9 damage: Slide to B27[/sblock]

2 questions, with the gnome being back in the hallway, how did he have line of sight/effect to Jasper? 2: Jasper is dead, no death throws or bleed out? Also, can I get an update in the full map including the gnomes location? I have the ability to move a lot.

1) Here the map before all happen. He was in the stair, but if I pick 1 corner of the square of the gnome (let's say any of the bottom ones) and trace a line to all corner of Talkrai square (where Jasper find himself when the gnome attack him), we can see the gnome has a line of sight and line of effect on Talkrai square.

2) Jasper is an NPC, so I have chosen to use the same rules that apply to enemy. If the hit that put him into the negative was lethal, it kill the target, if it was non-lethal, it would have put him unconscious.

By the way, it was just a matter of roll here that Jasper died. If the gnome would have miss (unlikely but possible), he would be alive. Also, if Ryda would have act before the gnome (more likely, as Ryda had a better modifier than the gnome), the gnome would have turned invisible, taking his only interrupt, preventing him to use his ready action. That's why I was bother about the order of ready action.[/sblock]

[sblock=Ardent's move]Ryda will move to B32[/sblock]
[sblock=Pis]I think that turning on the trap will just pen us in, since the gnome moved 12, that will probably put him past the trap.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]That's the sort of rule I'd have liked to have known about ahead of time. Most people allow friendly NPCs to be revived and treat them as friendlies, not as monsters. If we had known that once he dropped to 0 we'd have no chance to help him, I, at least, would have done things differently.[/sblock]
