[Adventure] Lost Love (DM: Velmont - Judge: Renau1g)

[sblock=OOC]May we see the full map, all the way back to the start, I can move quite a bit (like somewhere in the realm of 30 squares). Also, with Jasper apparently dead dead, good game guys, there is no point in continuing the adventure after we shred these guys.[/sblock]

[sblock=Pis]I think that turning on the trap will just pen us in, since the gnome moved 12, that will probably put him past the trap.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC] I think 12 puts him in the middle of the room, but I'm not sure. We'd need to see the rest of the map. I can ret-con the action to the Low SLash if it's obvious he's already out of the room.[/sblock]

[sblock=True, Fact]There's very little reason to move forward, as at this point we're robbing his heirs instead of working for him.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Not so sure. These guys aren't just any old thugs, they're Khyber cultists. And they want to get at whatever is past all these traps. Assuming that they have buddies who also know about this and will be mounting new efforts to get at it - efforts which will probably succeed eventually - it'd be somewhat irresponsible to just leave the situation alone as it is. I get that some characters might not be interested in that, but as far as Jarren's concerned, unpleasant goings-on with cults of the Dragon Below are one of the few things he can get morally worked up about. I'm for seeing this through and disposing of any threats.

Delaying, action-wise, until other people have gone.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Hmm, didn't know the whole Kyber cult connection thing, must have failed that check. Looks like Jarren is going to have to give a motivtional speach after this![/sblock]

[SBLOCK=OOC]No time at the moemnt to make an update, just a note for Pis action:

Compedium said:
Minor actions are enabling actions, simple actions that usually lead to more exciting actions. You can normally take them only on your turn. Examples: pulling an item from a pouch or a sheath, opening a door or a treasure chest, picking up an item in your space or in an unoccupied square within reach.

The lever is in the square of Swordman2, which mean you cannot activate the trap as he is defending it at the moment. You may reconsider your action if you wish.[/SBLOCK]

[sblock=OOC]Already did, see the above post for my alternate action. I'll edit the post to reflect the rules call.[/sblock]

[sblock=whoa whoa whoa]Well this is what I get for not checking the boards yesterday! :)

Ok, I have to admit: I'm confused. I'm especially confused about the actions that have occurred; I'm not sure why 16 and Jarren didn't get to go - especially as Talkrai and Ryda did - and I'm not sure how the enemies reacted so fast to our clandestine plans.

First, 16 has been ready to spring at that gnome since he came down here. he's been extremely careful to be within 1 movement of him this whole time; he's discussed these plans telepathically with the rest of the group; he's just been waiting on the opportunity and the opportunity came when the gnome was alone and the other guy came forward. (I even wrote his dialog like two weeks ago! But that's because I'm a nerd. :P) Technically, 16 would have started running before the worker even got killed, but that was a point I didn't press because I figured that would be a little too much ret-conning. But he has been waiting for just such a moment!

Second, I thought Talkrai and Ryda were going to act when 16 acted? I could be wrong about that.

Third, some folks had readied actions - although honestly everyone was ready to go - but I am still a bit confused as to why the enemies were able to react to our actions before we really even got started, initiative or no. In particular, I have to call shenanigans on Jasper's death: the gnome had a readied action that was triggered specifically on Jasper being teleported away? I just don't see how he could have foreseen that: that was a great move! And if he did foresee that somehow, then I think Talkrai should be allowed to just retcon and heal the guy instead of moving him, since that would be the most effective action and she wasn't aware that even 6 damage would make him completely dead. Oh, and how again was the gnome able to take a standard action and then two move actions? Maybe I missed something.

Anyway I will read back through everything again but I'd honestly like to go back and go through step-by-step what happened, if folks don't mind. Normally I wouldn't sweat it but we have a major NPC death and the bad guy unable to be captured despite our best-laid, telepathically communicated plans and it just doesn't seem like we could have messed up that badly with this much prep.[/sblock]

[sblock=line of sight]Also, I'm confused by this as well: how in the world did the gnome interrupt Talkrai's teleport before she even teleported the guy just to kill him? Again, I'm not sure how he anticipated this, especially since Talkrai was around the corner and out of his vision! (A position I would wager was carefully planned, along with 16's distance to target!) And as has been pointed out, once he did get teleported, the gnome would have to move forward to see him and attack.[/sblock]

[sblock=readied actions]Also, I think there was a mistake regarding how readied actions resolve. If combat started, the people with readied actions don't get ANOTHER turn; they had their turn this round. Whatever the initiative, they already went, and they have to wait for everyone else to go before they can go again. (For example, I don't think the gnome cannot attack and then run.) The way the readied actions have resolved, you've effectively made it a surprise round, where only people with readied actions were in on the surprise round.

(Sorry to post all piecemeal but sometimes things get missed when I go back and edit!)[/sblock]
