Grys sits down. "It does sound to me like this fellow is trying to stop us from achieving our goal. He wants our respect, but then impedes our progress. Now, it might be possible that he knows nothing of the temple that we are talking about, but it's likely that if he does not know, he knows of someone who does. He actually looks like the sort of fellow who knows everything around here though. So, I will ask you just once good sir. There is an ancient Dhakaani temple somewhere in this area. There were a group of scholars who were looking for it. I am now looking for it. If you want my respect, you will have to earn it." Grys says seriously as his glass floats up into his hand.

Mythra watches the Ogre's body language, seeing if he is lying or if he is ignorant of the ruins under this establishment.

"Now, now, he just doesn't know any different. There are plenty that depend on his protection and he cannot affort to look weak. And we don't want to waste time destroying the tavern when we can go on our search. So we all benefit with open talk."

Orsik offers double sized flagon to the ogier and drinks from his own after saluting the brute.

[sblock=Runepriest buffs, please read]
I'll drop these reminder every now and then. When we're in combat please check current runestate (I'll have it bolded and colored at the top of the post)

[sblock=Mythra, Orsik, kal'Tarron]The ogre really didn't seem to know what you were talking about at the mention of 'the temple' and something being up. Once Grys spelled out in plain language what you were looking for, though, a spark of understanding came to his eyes, and his mood seemed to worsen considerably...[/sblock]

The ogre's horrible grin just widens as he peers evilly back and forth between Orsik and Grys. He drains the tankard that Orsik sets in front of him at one long pull, and then slams it down on the table. "Strangers, you are talk too much," he pronouces. "And you sticking your nose in place where it is not welcomed. You are bark up wrong tree, yes? Understand? I give one chance, because I am in very happy mood today: FORGET stupid temple, and RUN AWAY."

Ponderously he climbs to his feet, hefting the enormous spiked club that was resting beside him. The rest of the room has gone very silent, save for the riot of drum noise still pounding out from the back. All eyes are fixed nervously on the brutish ogre as he glares at the group, waiting for them to make their move. The harpy and the four humans who were with the ogre are now eyeing the group with definite intent from amidst the crowd, clearly ready to pitch in the moment that their leader gives the signal.

[sblock=OOC]Combat looks imminent. I'll post the initiative order now and you should post in combat turns, although judging by what the ogre said, it's possible that if you just leave the inn peacefully (and quickly) then you won't be attacked.[/sblock]

[sblock=Initiative]Mythra - 22

Sorry for my rather rudimentary mapping skills! But this should do the trick.

The numbered tokens 1,2,3 and 4 are the ogre's human lackeys.

Hopefully this arrangement of the PCs makes sense to everyone as the ogre had insisted they join him at the table and nobody posted a firm refusal.

The green blobs covering most of the map (looking suspiciously like bushes) are the inn's patrons. Any square they occupy counts as difficult terrain (since you have to push through the crowd).[/sblock]

OOC: Just few quick clarifications:
a) we are seated, is it possible to stand up in adjacent square? You know swinging your legs on the side and getting up?
b) if we leave and return, since we seem to need to be here, we have to face him again, only there is a chance that less innocents will be hurt, true?

Statement: I would withdraw my last statement as Orsik is sensitive to body language, but it's a problem with PbP and unsupported assumptions :p No problem. My bad. Play on!

EVERYONE: if you want to attack the ogre you get +1 to hit him as he's adjacent to Orsik. Blast away!

[sblock=OOC] a) That'd be a shift. It seems reasonable to allow you to stand up from seated and shift a square as one move action, though. The stools and tables are quite low, so I'm not going to count them as difficult terrain, and you can occupy their squares (standing on them) without penalty.

b) Those seem like they may perhaps be reasonable assumptions, but who knows? Maybe the ogre won't be here if you come back later. Or maybe he'll be here with a whole mess of big ugly friends.[/sblock]

Baracus saw the way things were shaking down and knew that there was only one way to deal with this kind of creature. He'd seen it too often in Lhazaar Principalities, this ogre was just a bully and needed to be shown who was boss. Without a word, Baracus sucker punches the larger creature, the force of the blow and suddenness of the attack sending the ogre to the bar floor. With the monster down, Baracus tries to jump onto it, hoping to pin it to the floor with his tremendous strength.

"I got this one, you guys make sure no suckas try and jump me from behind" he grunts

[sblock=Actions]
Standard: Takedown attack - vs fort; damage (1d20+11=30, 1d6+8=14) hits Fortitude 31 for 14 damage and the ogre's knocked prone, mark ogre too. Forgot +1 to hit from Orsik
AP: Try to Grab the ogre - vs Reflex (Grab attack) (1d20+10=16) hits Reflex 19 and if that hits he's grabbed...forgot CA in roll & +1 to hit from Orsik
If he's grabbed the ogre's immobilized (grabbed), prone, and can't escape until he escapes the grab (Pin Down feat) to escape he needs to beat Fort 23

OOC: Good move! I was about to suggest that he and Orsik slug it out as one giant to another (in duel not in who can last longer :)) That way only I lose surges and any resources and I think I could beat it.

But this works just fine for me...nasty feat that if you can keep large creature down.

[sblock=action] ire strike the ogre. Baracus, hit him again![/sblock]

"Give him another!" Says Serris, inspiration flowing to Baracus.

[sblock=ooc] phone posting, sorry for lack of sheet stuff. [/sblock]
