Mal smiles a bit and look Mythra up and down, "I didn't actually think you'd put that much effort into it..."
He reaches into his scroll case and takes out a very old looking map. Almost absently he tells the dragon, "We should have it clear in two, maybe three days. Tops."
With that he turns and surveys the valley. Wondering if now is the time for some cartography. "Talos, you remember the Hobgoblin cheiftain. The one with the teeth in his hair. I'd say that was about 60 miles north and east of here. He put up a hell of a fight, didn't he?"

The arcanist sent out his familiar to scout the area, the cat moving quietly away from Mythra. It disappears for a while and during that time Mal utilizes his map to draw the area. The valley appears and some of the nearby mountains. Of most interest to the group is a pair of lairs of creatures. One is for a creature known as a roc, a deadly bird, and the other is for a (or multiple) manticore(s). Both are a couple miles away, so not immediate threats, one on the north side of valley, nested in the mountains high up (the roc) and the manticores are to hte south, in the mountains surrounding that area. The map does provide some additional details about the terrain as well, which may be of interest to Calmachia
To the issue at hand, the cat returns

An overpowering stench of sulfur lingers in the air as the cat approaches the refinery. It’s evident from the decay and debris that the facility has not been used in many years. One of the upper walls has collapsed, and rusty tools lie
scattered around the entrance, yet steam and smoke billow out from the broken chimneys, rising above the faint sound of hammers on anvils that echo within the walls. Unfortunately, a set of doors block entrance for the feline [/sblock]

Fine, come Mythra says, commanding the cat to jump inside the dimensional pocket in his robes.
After a moment of deliberation Mythra speaks. There is a refinery near here. Though it looks abandoned on the outside smoke and noise rise from within. Perhaps there will be creatures there for us to dispose of. he says, almost at once regretting his action as it made more work for him.

"Very good." Mal says, rubbing away an ache in his hand, "Everyone ready to march?"
"That Roc nest. If it belongs to a breeding pair, we may be able to use them in half a dozen years... I'll have to mention it to Calmachia when we see him next. The Chimerae may be more problematic."
