Angel 10-08-03

Richards

Legend
Any Red Dwarf fans watch this episode? I saw Spike's current condition and said to my son:
"Holy crap -- he's Arnold Rimmer!"

To which he replied:
"Yeah, and that amulet's his light-bee!"
:)

Overall, I really liked this ep.
First Complaint: It'd have been better for me,
Spike hadn't told Angel the plan ahead of time. It also makes less sense in their private conversation IMO.

Second Complaint: Fred's cute enough I guess, but she's not so attractive that they need to constantly have the guys commenting on her.

Nice banter, though Spike was a tad moody, I guess it's fine.
All in all, it raised my hopes for the season, but was a tad predictable throughout.

I admit it. I just like necromancy. :) But this one was fun. Especially when Angel used different things to kill guys.
I almost died laughing when he killed the bulter with a SPOON.

What choice have they got? They already got rid of the two really attractive women on the show. With Lilah dead and Cordie in a coma, well... All I can figure is that Joss Whedon, genius though he is, has a thing for women who are way too skinny.

That aside, I've loved both eps this season. If they can keep up this pace, I think it may be the best one yet. :)

I personally find Fred to be far more attractive than any of the other females that have appeared on the show. It is really a matter of preference. As for the episode, I really liked it. The more this show moves to its fantasy action side, rather than cheap soap opera, the better. I have not watched the show since the Conner debacle, and only began watching again after hearing they got rid of him and Cordelia. Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say.

My feelings are rather ambivalent regarding this episode.

On the one hand, I thought it was pretty good - Spike meshed much better than I thought he would, Harmony was a tad less annoying, and the last fight scene had me laughing out loud, if only because I realized what was happening as it happened.

On the other hand, I thought it was decidedly meh. Wesley and Gunn didn't get nearly enough screen time, and I like Gunn a lot more after only two episodes. I don't know why every character on the show has to be attracted to Fred. And overall it just didn't provoke the "damn that was good" reaction in me that last week's episode did.

Another thing I wanted to mention - I noticed that Ben Edlund's name was listed in the opening credits (associate producer or something, plus something else - "teleplay," maybe?). Ben is the genius behind "The Tick," in all of his various forms (comic book, cartoon, live action series).
I wonder if he was the one responsible for Angel killing off the butler with a..."SPOON!"

Personally I really loved the episode. The banter between Angel and Spike was interesting. Look forward to seeing next week, due to how I get the shows I don't get to see the previews.

I am glad that Angel and Spike came to terms in one episode. I was annoyed at the constant bickering and was worried they were going to carry it all season. This one episode was fine and I probably would have enjoyed it more if I was not worried about the catty relationship going all season long.

I am not sure I am warming up to the W&H thing. But, I do have hope because Spike stated that maybe you will get digested by the beast and not really beat the beast while living in its belly.

Yeah, he's been in there a while. His name was also in the Firefly credits.
Personally, I thought this episode was much better than the premiere, which was Ehhh, okay, but none of Angel's season openers have been all that great. Hopefully, just because they worked together, Angel and Spike aren't going to be all buddy-buddy now. The catty between them is something I've been looking forward to.
