Angel 5-12-04 (Spoilers, blah blah)

So far it's been bleh. I don't bye the Angel thing, it's very arbitrary. We've seen some escalating of Angel's uncaringness, but this just doesn't sync. Last episode makes this even worse.

I liked Illyria & Spike, Illyria's fight was horrible though. It wasn't even close and that's just pointless. IMO.

Ah well, it's back on. :)

There. That's much better. Even if I don't really care about the enemies, at least it'll have an impact.

And the preview looks good. Though the "one will fall" bit is tired. I saw three should bite it. Give teeth to the sacrifice.

I think I'll be the first to eat a little crow. This episode tied together a lot of the weirdness that has been in the last few episodes. I still say this episode should have been fourth from last instead of second, but maybe that's just because I want it dragged out some.

My only problem is that this Circle of the Black Thorn came out of nowhere, with no real hints of it's existance this season. It would have been nice if it were subtly hinted at a little.

Poor Nina. :(

DAMN!!! that was good. IEverything I've come to expect and hope for from Joss's crew, and then some.

Lightphoenix, the before the "19 hours earlier" was just the scene of the black thorne beating Drogyn up through Angel biting him.

Illyria and Drogyn playing XBox was funny.

The linking of everything together was beautiful, as it always is when they show us just how the pieces fit.

Damn too much good stuff to quote.

Next week's looks like it is going to be great with that kind of lead in. And Joss is just enough of a bastard to kill off his cast at the end.

Of course, he's also enough of a bastard to actually turn Angel evil (though I was 75% sure it was all a bluff).

of course the Black Thorns haven't been mentioned, they're SECRET!

I said two weeks ago that it didn't ring true, that Angel wasn't "bad", and this episode felt forced to me. It was good that they remembered some of the stuff, but the continuity was odd. They finally remember Lindsey, and he gives them info, but they gave up one of their own to get him the first time. Why oh why didn't they get more info from him then?

Also, the Well guy is dead, but I guess that doesn't matter. How many may have died because of Angel's ploy? Does it just not matter anymore?

Still disappointed in Illyria.

Oh, and Spike beat Angel before, why couldn't he this time? Wuss! :)

In Buffy's end, they killed
Anya
because the actress had already said she had no interest in ever reprising the role. It was a pointless death.

It'll be interesting to see if the death has meaning this time. I hope it's not the cheap way out (Illyria or Harmony)

And, why even advertise it like that? doesn't it kind of ruin the impact of a death?

So did Mr. Jayne see what was going on in the room even after Angel's spell or not? Is it possible that he is part of the Black Thorns? Will Wes and SmufFred find happiness?

Angel seems to have gotten a bit more powerful, I mean he took on team Angel and pretty much kicked their asses, Spike included.

Wow, that episode really blew me away. I loved that brief skirmish in the end, when each character had their own weapon (liked seeing Wes with the shotgun :) ). I though Hamilton's fight with Illyria was kinda funny . . . most of the time, when a really strong person grabs hold of someone, he throws them at a wall or something. Hamilton just kept punching her instead . . . ouch!

My guess is that Lorn will die next episode (since he seems the least important of the core characters). Anyone else care to make a prediction?

(but really, it seems like none of them should come out alive)
