Any decent 1-handed thrown weapons out ther?

Hi, just as the title says; are there any decent one handed thrown weapons that i'm missing in any of the splat books? There's the shortspear and trident in the phb, but one is a common weapon with fairly uninspiring damage, and the other is the has some nice features but only a 10ft range. Are there any one handed thrown weapons with both a decent range and damage, or am i better of just taking far shot for the trident?
My build was going to be a fighter taking wpn focus/spec chain with pnt blank, rapid shot quick draw etc and then carrying a hvy shield most of the time, for reasonable ac and damage in melee and close range both.

Throwers should head for TWF in addition to Rapid Shot, shield isn't that good for throwing... even with that PHB2 feat.

Why don't you use shortspears with Far Shot? Or take a buckler and use a spear.

The concept was more that i would be a melee fighter who could also use his chosen weapon at short ranges. The current trend in our group is to have a completely melee or ranged fighter, but i was more interested in bridging the gap a bit. I figured that if i was to specialise in something like the shortspear, wpn focus/spec would be stacking for both melee and ranged. I would probably have gone with throwing axes, but being a light weapon, they cant be wielded two handed for that extra damage when needed. Shortspears seem the most workable choice, but i was just holding out for something more interesting. Alternatively, i had considered using a buckler, improved buckler defence, shield focus: buckler and a normal spear for its better abilities (1d8 two handed weapon with x3 crit, range 20ft that can be set against charges is a fairly nice combo)

I also wanted a decent ac as our party's found that the big hitters can really dish out the hurt fast, but end up draining an awful lot of resources to keep them up, which is why i was steering away from the two-weapon fighter/thrower (plus the needing a fairly high dex).

Dwarven Warax with the returning ability. Now you're set for melee and range. At higher levels, ask DM for an improved returning ability so that you can throw the weapon as a full attack (I never did this personally, but it'd be worth a shot!). If that doesn't pan out (or even if it does), then take the overpowering attack alternative class feature for fighters in the PHB2, and just sit back and throw the ax once/round. Wield it with both hands in melee, unless you're stuck on using a shield. Later on, animate your shield, and then use both hands. Throw the ax with both hands (taking power throw and brutal throw), and now your dex isn't that important. This works best as a straight (or nearly straight) fighter, due to the many feats needed.

Otherwise, the spear with the shorthaft feat would be pretty cool. There's also a pretty cool weapon enhancement in MIC where you can change the weapon size on a spear.

Yupp, Franciscas are very nice (love them) but I wouldn't give a weapon a threat range of 19-20/*3. I would allow a 18-20/*2 though.
