Not really Captain. But glad you stopped by anyway. Thanks (in this particular post I'm thanking you Captain for your comment/ trying to be polite)Maester Luwin

Nah, it's all good. Just kept throwing me for a loop. I'd like start looking at posts above yours to see what Maester Luwin had said that you were thanking him for. Then I realized you were him.

But on topic, if I can scrounge up some money I'm probably going to get this game actually. But most likely the Tri-Stat version.

No problem Captain & sorry about the confusion! I think this game will be a great one! GOO has captured the feel of the books by their modification of the D20 system judging by their previews. I only hate I have to wait untill Sept.. Thanks Maester Luwin

The new preview covers The Hound/ Sandor as a Npc write up. It looks good & we can see some of the modifications to the D20 system (including a shock value). I really like what I have seen so far! Thanks Maester Luwin

Honestly, while I was a fan of the books, I'm not sure what the appeal of GoT is going to be, at least for me. This isn't a judgment of people who do like it, but I'm not sure why I'd get that instead of just playing a d20 Past or Grim Tales game in a homebrew world of my own, or in Martin's world through my eyes. I don't know that we've seen enough of the magic system or the Others so far to have a good basis for mechanics, and while I do like the idea of playing in an all-human political-feuding era with ugly civil war, I don't know why I wouldn't just do that on my own.
Yeah, my own feelings are basically the same. I love the novels (okay, the audiobooks, actually) like no other fantasy series, but I really have no interest in running anything other than a homebrew setting. Worldbuilding is just too much fun.

Still, I can hope that the setting might offer some fun mechanical innovations for me to cannibalize and rework for my own purposes. Black Company certainly provided plenty such treasures.

All the modifications I've seen both fit the setting & would be easy for anyone to barrow from to fit their homebrew camapign- based on Martin's works or not. I'm glad they've (the good people at GOO) have put in so much hard work so I do not have to. I woud love to come up with my own homebrew camapiagn but just do not have the time. Thanks for your comments Maester Luwn

I'm excited for this book...I didn't have enough to get the deluxe edition, but if I saw one on the shelf I'd spend 100 bucks for it, absolutely for sure ya know! :)

I wish I could go but there is no way. I would like to see how a game is played out & how the system (with all it's modifications) stays true to the books. Thanks Maester Luwin
