Anyone glanced at the new Character Sheets on the WotC site?

I could come up with more rational fields and groupings for multi-class sheets. I would much rather they prodce a generic sheet 1-3 pages long with the stuff everyone uses with a single insert sheet for each class requiring specialized info. So, the sorceror insert would have the familiar and spell fields; the bard would have an insert with bardic powers and spell fields; etc.

If this is a multi-class sheet, what sense does it make to give a Rogue/Barbarian/Fighter/Duelist a bunch of space for his psi crystal? Multiclass sheets need to be structured rationally so that you add pages when you add certain classes, not so you have fields for every class on the sheet.

There are a few things I liked. The body parts and worn magic items thing was a really good idea, for instance.

New Character sheet

Finally, WotC has come out with a character sheet I will use. It has psionics on it, and is less "busy", making it easier (IMHO) to read and find info.

I liked it. The lack of space for spells doesn't bother me, because I use the web enhancements for Tome and Blood and Defenders of the Faith for spell tracking. At least I did the last time I had a campaign going. If needed I can make my own spell tracking sheets.

3 Ring binder paper :p

I gave up on character sheets about 10yrs ago. I can fit everything I need to know on a single piece of binder paper.

I do like the large amounts of space dedicated to hit points and XP. Saves me eraseing through the paper...

Huh. I don't change that stuff on my actual char sheet while in play. I keep a small notepad around for that. And for notes, too. And I have pre-genned char sheets to account for buffs I like to use, so I don't have to do math in play.

I use a paper version of one of the PbP character sheets... :uhoh:

It's very space efficient.

That new sheet? Interesting, but pretty wasteful. I don't use that much space for hp, for example, or xp. And skills and feats on the last page? Blech.

Good lord--they're huge. 4 pages for a character sheet? I type my characters out in Word, and it takes up 1 page.

Honestly, I think the problem with virtually all availible character sheets is that they're trying to wear too many hats. Most character sheets are designed to both be character-building worksheets, that is, they help to build the character, and to serve as an in-game reference. I think character sheets would work much better if these functions were split apart, giving one sheet for character creation (which would look much like existing character sheets) and one character sheet for actual play (which would probably look more like a statblock).

Nowhere to put HD

What is the use of this supposed to be? (Especially for multiclassed characters). I consider it one of the most pointless things to include on a character sheet, out of the set of things often found there. You never, and I mean never, use it in play.
