Anyone Intending to see Reign of Fire?

On-topic though I'm with kingpaul, won't be seeing it opening weekend mostly because I rarely bother with any movie on 'zoo night'. I hate crowds. Of course this weekend, other than it being pay-day ;), will be the weekend I finally get to see MiB2.
When I saw MIIB, the theater room wasn't crowded during Sunday mid-morning showing (11 am, before lunch).

But like you, I don't like a crowded theater. Will see Reign of Fire during the second or third week showing.

And on a semi-related note. Someone pointed out, in another thread, that they were amazed that LotR was still showing, albeit in a 'budget theatre', well it's still showing in the $2 theatre near me, and I've been a bit tempted to see it a second time.
Well, I wouldn't mind seeing LOTR:FOTR again. The first time I saw it was during matinee ($5.25 ticket price). I'm a cheap SOB. I'd rather pay matinee than going to a prime-time showing and pay full price ... unless I HAVE to go on a date. * grumbles *

If there is a $2 movie theater in Hawaii, I'd go to that as well ... unless the room is nowhere near as luxurious as most multiplex, with plush stadium seating and all. Of course, I would prefer a wider seat, like those in first-class section of the airplane, with jacks for hearing-impaired people that can either use a headphone or a special glass that allows you to see closed caption right on the screen.

I saw it last night (free sneak preview).

I was quite pleased with it. Effects were great, and I got to see lots of sh!i burn and/or blow up. Not much character development, but, hey, it's an ACTION movie, and you don't go to an action movie to see character development.

Thanks for the encouraging news. As I stated in my original post, I'm not real concerned about the plot or movie reviews -- I just wanna see the flick 'cause there are DRAGONS in it :D!!

I'm not expecting much from the film beyond the special effects, and what I hope will be a realistic/believable portrayal of dragons as smart, fearsome creatures capable of massive amounts of destruction. In other words, I want them to do BADD proud.

Interesting Thought

I hear a lot of people saying that they are going to see this movie for one main reason, "It has Dragons in it". Which led me to think, with all the movies that use dragons to grab audiences, why not create a movie that has a Dragon as the main actor/actress? A film that portrays the lifelyhood of dragons in a semi-documentry style. AND NO SUGAR COATING PLEASE.

My opinion as well. My GF and I will be off to see it tomorrow night, me because it has dragons and guns (woo! HMG's vs dragon hide!), and my GF because she likes Christian Bale and explosions. The big theater in Ypsilanti is never really packed when we go anyway so it's all good. :)

Opening night

Personally I love seeing the big genre flicks on opening nights with packed crowded theaters. Its part of "the experience."

Starwars I, II, LotR, all were the 12:01 midnight shows for me and my friends, and we wouldn't do it any other way. Everybody is a fan, all there for the same reason you are, everybody oohs and ahhs and ah sh*t!s at the same time. Its a big bonding thing. Later we go for pancakes.

So, Reign of Fire, Friday night, 8:00 pm. I'm there.

Is it me? Maybe it's just me...

The film's trailer says the dragons are "older than dinosaurs, extremely intelligent."

If they are extremely intelligent, why did they allow humans to have any aircraft, including helicopters? That is like allowing them to put on the same level as you as well as giving them some form of air power.

Oh, well. Just something to ponder. I'll have to wait until next week, in a less crowded movie theater.

It was my understanding that the dragons were "dormant" for some reason or other, and just recently woke up. Imagine their suprirse....

I'll find out tomorrow and get back to you :)

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me....
