I don't see why I'd want to use CoC + Spycraft to do a modern game when I can just use Modern by itself; not only is it cheaper, but I don't see the point in buying two games that I don't intend to play so that I can smoosh them together to do what Modern's designed for.

Amen. My point exactly. Why bother? Just buy the Generic Modern game.

Generic Modern Game, Like Real Life D20 please. Oh look I am 3rd level expert, I got profession burger flipping and knowledge Playstation 2 Games. If I go to work 1 more week I can buy new shoes.

What the hell is D20 modern going to be? Do I get to play a Bus Driver and make drive checks to see if I merge on to traffic?

I think WotC missed the boat with the modern Genre.

Thats just my 4 cents (posted once before and gave my 2 cents there as well)

I'll know be getting it. I can't wait.
Of course, it's coming out on my birthday, so which one of you is getting it for me?

Some people are happy converting other settings, but that's not for me. Why fix CoC or Spycraft for my purposes when I can simply get D20 Modern?

Give me a copy right now, I'll sign a non-disclosure agreement, really!

D20 Modern has been on my must buy list since I saw the Shadowchasers game in Poly. I can't wait to get it, since two of the D&D games I'm running are in a modern setting anyway.

I have to say, Spycraft doesn't seem like it'd work that well for a generic modern game. It's great for spy games, but the rules are very much focused on just that one genre.

Less work and less money is a Good Thing for me.

I think you guys forgot to read the entire thread before posting. Our points were regarding using CoC and Spycraft for a Dark*Matter d20 campaign. (and the two combined being a lot of fun) :)

This is, of course, your completely unbiased and detached opinion as the author of said rules. ;)
Actually, I think that he was posting that as the (co-)author of the Dark*Matter campaign setting, not as the author of the CoC ruleset.

Don't you love beautiful irony?

Actually there was a post much earlier than yours referring to why buy d20 Modern at all with CoC and Spycraft already in print.

I'll be reviewing d20 Modern for the possibilities in running a campaign that switches between modern-day Earth and a fantasy setting, in the vein of Stephen King's Territories setting.
