ZEITGEIST Anyone watching Carnival Row?

My mom and I just watched the first episode.

So it's the same tech level as ZEITGEIST.

There are fairies in a soot-y city.

The main character is an inspector.

One of the other prominent races looks a lot like tieflings.

Recently there was a war at some islands.

And if that's not enough, one character is played by Indira Varma.

It is also simply that "sooty Victorian England plus fairies" tends to be one of the more common depictions of fantastical 19th century England.

I watched three or four episodes. It was like fantasy 101; there simply wasn't anything there I hadn't seen many times elsewhere. I'm glad you are enjoying it, though.

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
Not an Orlando Bloom fan. Can’t say I’m interested. Now a Zeitgeist series I could go for!

I can add a custom title.
I just finished watching and I think it was an excellent series, definitely worth the watch and I'm looking forward to a season 2.

It was ok.
But I found it highly predictable.
As for the characters? While I wouldn't say they're unlikable, I just never cared about any of them.
I was also struck by the thought that they must've spent a great deal of the budget on that street set & thus had to show it off every chance they got. And yet very little ever actually occurs there....

Given that I don't care about any of the characters I doubt I'll watch a season 2.
