Really?

I didn't think they were too bad this year - certainly a huge step up from last year. There were a couple of minor things I spotted (generally, a couple of skill points here and there), but really not too much.

Most of the "mistakes" people have pointed out are just things that weren't put on the sheet because they weren't relevant. For example, one of the fighters has weapon focus and it's not written on the character sheet. It is included in the stats. There is really no reason a player at the table of the one-off needs to know it is there.

I get to go. Looking forward to it, actually. have the day off, and I'm gonna be there bright and early.

What are the character choices for the scenario?

I was just going to ask if anyone had retooled the characters yet, but this is as good a juncture to note that as any.

The characters came in a pack with a mini and printed in a mini-pamphlet. They are:
  • Tara Redstag - F Human F4 - Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack. As others have noted, Weapon Focus is in there. The final 2 feats appear to be exotic weapon proficiency and weapon specialization. (Myself, I wouldn't pick those feats unless I was going for a whirlwind attack build or angling for 3.0 weapon master or some swashbuckler concept)
  • Morn Frostsilver - M Dwarf C4 - Combat Casting and an unlisted weapon focus (crossbow), it appears. I'd pick something different than Combat Casting... Skill Focus (concentration) even.
  • Durven Frostsilver - M Dwarf Pal4 - Power Attack and a weapon focus(greatsword). My main complaint here is that I nerf two-handed power attack, and I hate to indoctrinate would be players to the "wrong" way of doing things. ;)
  • Xaphina Liadon - F Elf Sor4 - Point Blank Shot and Precise Shot, and spell selections to go with it (Orb of Acid, Scorching Ray). Only thing I'd add here is to give the character a bow for when the spells run out. Given its an elf and has the missile feats, there is no reason not to.
  • Gavin Gallowslee - M Halfling Ftr2/Rog2. Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Two Weapon Fighting, unlisted Weapon Focus (thrown axe), unlisted Iron Will.

I could see a few tweaks, but I am honestly more tempted to change the adventure than the characters. The adventure is dirt simple.

I'm heading down the London Dungeon, which is the venue that is hosting the London event. I'm hoping it's going to be good fun.

That Elven Sorceror sounds like fun to play...

Right now I'm on my way out to the first FLGS for today. I plan on running the scenario and then maybe running the 2nd of WotC's D&D miniatures scenario (which is more an RPG combat scenario) and maybe finish up a scenario of my game. Then in the evening I head to my other FLGS hoping to play.

I just inturned from the game myself. Had a mix of never before played and veterans with more game time than myself. It was okay. Not very imaginative but it was fun just the same.

For most of it only the mage and cleric went through it. DM didn't adjust numbers. When we reachjed the last room a bunch of people arrived. I had to go but we were going to win for sure.

God. We ran through it with a full party. Problem was, all the players were GMs (I was the youngest of the group, and I'm 24) and the player was probably 13, and it didn't look like he had GMed very often.

And he had the attention span of, well, a 13 year old. He kept trying to sidetrak (his own game!) into conversations with the players.

Generally, he'd get lost in something (it's not a hard adventure to run, criminy!) and we'd pass time with conversations. He'd look up, and involve himself in the conversation... forcing us to try to remind him to get into the game.

It was... painful? But only because the GM bungled it. And he was definately only running it for the minis, I think - he got to keep the adventure.

However, I did like my character (I got the dwarven paladin, and it's nice being able to drop damage). Me and the Cleric (the woman at the table) did everything we could to help speed up the game, including taking initiative and whatnot (even though the GM insisted on using his own notes, which slowed down play, and didn't even accurately follow our initiative counts).

On the plus side, when I got home, my copy of Pathfinder #1 was waiting for me (there was shipping problem the first time). SCORE!
