Armor Spikes?

Regarding Armor Spikes, can I make both regular melee attack and off-hand attack simultaneously with those spikes? Say, a fighter with Two-Weapon fighting feat is wearing a full-plate with spikes and having no other weapons in his hands. Can he make both regular attacks and off-hand attacks with spikes in the same turn?

If it is OK, armor spikes can be, effectively, used as a kind of double weapon. If so, when making a master work weapon or magic weapon, shall I consider the spikes to have 2 (or maybe more) heads? I mean, shall I pay cost for "each heads"?

I am afraid this is not clearly covered by rules, so it is welcomed to post your pure opinions.

In my opinion I don't see why not, they say they can be used for either in the description(I think). I don't see why they shouldn't be able to be used that way in the same round.

As for the paying extra for masterworking I'm not sure that does raise an interesting question. One I didn't address when my character made his masterwork armour spikes. But I still don't see it as being that unbalancing if they only pay it once. He hasn't done any overly spectacular things with them.

There was a post on here not to long ago singing the praises about armour spikes and I'd have to agree that they are very worth while to have.

I don't know if that helps at all, I know I was babbling.

MW spikes would be weapons ... so +300gp.

a suit of MW spiked MW fullplate would be 2000gp (I think)

I think you can only use them as an off-hand weapon or a primary weapon (I wouldn't let them be used as a double weapon, ... you could have armor spikes and sheild spikes and do that ...)

don't forget that they do real dmg in a grapple.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't use the spikes as a double weapon (they're all over your armor, including both arms, presumably). They're not /really/ a double weapon, more like two sepparate weapons. None of the books say so, but, assuming you can use them for both primary and secondary weapons simultaneously, it'd be reasonable to MW or enchant them twice.

The spikes in the PHB...

Armor Spikes: Spikes can be added to armor. They deal 1d6 points of piercing damage (X2 crit) with a successful grapple attack. The spikes count as a martial weapon. If a character is not proficient with them, the character suffers a -4 penalty on grapple checks when trying to use them. A regular melee attack (or off-hand attack) can be made with the spikes, and they count as a light weapon in this case.

...they count as one weapon. Now...if you are using some kind of custom spikes, that's different. But the ones in the PHB are treated as one weapon. Note the description above comes from the book and it does not say that "The spikes count as martial weapons."

It would be fairly easy to design some. Heck, just double the cost, ya know?
