At the Inn of the Fortunate Minotaur

If we be traveling by way of anauroch there will be combat booty galore. I also vote that treasure not be divided by body weight... I fear Van and myself would come up short...

By the way VAn, you seem to have been on many a lucrative adventure, so why are you so thin? Surely you'd be eating well by now.

Master Bramblefoot, I've only met Master Dykson, but he appears to have seen something so horrible that his hair has turned white! Eating may be the least of his concerns ...

And true, there is combat booty. And my expeditious retreat from Arabel is calling, I'm happy to be part of this journey.

Things that can be Found Out from Tahgor Ironcrest

1. There is, apparently, an anonymous sponsor of The Rolf-Lenumbrar Expedition who paid for extra wagons, horses and foodstuffs. A sizable stipend was set aside to hire caravan guards: 200 gp each before departure to cover incidental costs, plus an undisclosed amount for each guard once you reach the Silver Marches. Tahgor warns that from what he's been told, the loss of any protected individuals will result in a reduction of pay--this is not negotiable--but a successful journey is promised to result in a satisfactory reward. Any combat booty taken along the way belongs to you.

2. There is a difference of opinion among the families--especially between the Rolf and Lenumbrar families--over which route is preferable. They are torn between relative speed and relative safety, but agree that the journey can't be any more dangerous than staying in Cormyr during the unfolding Civil War and expansion of chaos and banditry in the northern reaches. In short, the decision is left to the "professionals": you.

Hmmm.. well, that is good news! I'm sure we can bring all (if not most) of those settlers in unharmed!

As for which way to travel, I vote for the Anauroch Trail. But we can discuss it more in Tilverton. For now, I'm off to stock up on some supplies. Master Bramblefoot has taken care of food for us, any other supplies our brave band might require on this long journey?

Maybe not enough for all of us. Only about 100 days worth, total. I dont need a horse, I run just as fast, so i dont have to worry about feeding one. But you might have to. Supplies will be a worry, especially water. Maybe we should purchase a wagon... split evenly it wont be very expensive.

I would suggest that people that want to buy horses get a trained warhorse because in our adventures in Hullack forest, my warhorse stayed during battles instead of fleeing.
I also suggest that we pack for the various climates we encounter such as winter blankets for the higher mountains.

I think buying a small wagon and stocking it with supplies is an excellent idea Darabrac. I can contribute 971 gold pieces to this effort.

Darabrac Bramblefoot's 2 coppers

Wagons cost 35gp, plus 400 for 2 heavy horse, plus four barrels for water (8gp). That is 443pg, plus 400 if we want the horses wartrained. plus and food for the horses. Van and Artemus should buy light war horses for scouting, an Kaemris and Lenet could drive the wagon. Lucius can put his charm to work as a liason between our group and the settlers (or whatever they are), and I can scout on foot.

Sound like a plan?

Oh, and maybe those who stay with the wagons should buy horses too, so that our scouts have mount changes. Scouting is hard work on horses after all. But again, that just makes for more supplies we may need to carry.

notes from the DM

Feel free to estimate costs using the lists from the PHB (it's a very good idea!) but keep in mind that actual prices are likely to be higher given Arabel's current condition and the fact that a Civil War has just begun...warhorses are in demand and likely to cost a bit more than listed...not to mention food... ;)

Please nominate someone to write up a full manifest of gear, equipment and supplies that you are purchasing. If it's not on the list before you leave Arabel, you'll have to buy it along the way!

(By the way, I'm very impressed with the planning going into this...)

Carabrac, I have a Warhorse already so how does that fit into the equation? (ooc: I should know this because I am a Druid but is this good for scouting and what is a light warhorse? Is it a light horse that has been trained?)

My suggestions for equipment are:
At least 2 barrels of water (I can purify water along the way)
~50 food rations
Horse feed
Wineskins
Rope
Grappling hook
Lanterns
Oil
Tents
Extra clothing
Manacles (we need to protect the villagers--even from some in their own ranks!)
