The knowledge that the game is being made by Obsideon gives me hope for it, as does the fact that Bioware will be providing assistance with the development.

I'll definately be keeping an eye on the game as it develops. Hopefully the first few screenshots will be released in the coming months.

First KotOR II, now NWN II.

Jeez. Is Obsidian going to be developing BGIII as well?

Good news though - I'll give it that.

IGN has a little more info regarding NWN2, and a piece of concept art of a mind flayer. Check it out.

IGN is also stating that this Friday, they'll be posting exclusive first details of the game. So we'll definately have to check back then.

Gamespot also has a few things to say about NWN2.

What I want to know is whether they're using the name because of the popularity but making a real RPG this time, or still messing around with the whole "design your own module" multiplayer angle, which necessarily means sacrificing depth if it's to be at all accessible...

Hopefully the latter. I loved Neverwinter Nights, and some of the user-created modules are absolutely fantastic.

I do disagree with you that Neverwinter Nights dosen't have depth. While the original campaign was a bit boring, the expansion packs and many of the user-created campaigns (especially ones such as The Paladin Trilogy or any of Adam Miller's modules) have great depth.

If we're lucky.

The multiplayer and toolset seem to have been Bioware's focus for the first game, that however doesn't preclude a single player campaign with depth however.

Since they're reusing the Aurora Toolset it should allow them focus more on the gameplay and other aspects of the game.
