Back Off Man... I'm A Scientist [Ghostbusters RPG]

Xander slides the goggles down over his eyes, and takes a step back. "I've been waiting for zis since I got here!" He turns and steps, jumping out and grabbing the pole, hoping to put a little bit of a spin on his descent.

Pole Dancing:1, 5, 5, 4. Total: 15.

Assuming he lands well, Xander will rush to the Ecto-27 and climb up into the turret.

Xander spins effortlessly down the pole and Dan and William are impressed at the angle the big German is able to get with his legs. If he was a stripper he'd make a fortune. He lands light as a feather, then rushes over and flips himself up onto the roof of the Hummer and sits down in the seat...

((Brains Check 1 - TN [3] *FAILURE*))

...thereby smashing his spine into his proton pack that he forgot he was still wearing. ((Lose 1 Brownie Point)). He yelps in pain as one of the cables digs into his back, and it finally clicks in to him that perhaps he should put the pack in the rear of the truck before trying to strap himself into the turret. He sheepishly climbs down from the roof and slinks over to the rear of the truck.

Elyssa and Sara meanwhile both look with concern at how well the three men have already gone down the pole. Even the tubby William did it without any problems (he probably practiced on elementary school playgrounds his entire life just for that moment.) Sara waves Elyssa forward and Miss Pembroke goes up to the pole, grabs it, and slides down...

((3,3 = [6] *SUCCESS*))

...and lands a little harder than the others did, but still manages to hang on and not embarass herself.

Sara watches the entire drop and figures that if Elyssa can do it, so can she. She hoists herself on the pole, drops the one story...

((1,2 = [3] *FAILURE*))

...and falls like a rock. With the air whizzing by her head she has the urge to scream out in abject terror...

((Cool Check 5,4 - TN [5] *SUCCESS*))

...but is able to stiffle it and not embarass herself that way. However, she does hit the ground hard and she falls backward onto her rump at the base of the pole. The only thing she bruises is her ego, but this was not the way she wanted to make an impression on the team ((Lose 1 Brownie Point)).

All that remains is for Gina to make the descent and for Vince to come over and hand them the keys to the truck and the paperwork they need... then they can load up their equipment and head on out the door.

Elyssa carefully places her stuff in the back of the hummer, before climbing into an empty seat and putting on her seat belt. "Everyone ready?" she asked, grinning mischieviously.

Taking note of Xander's ... miscalculation, Dan carefully enters the vehicle and buckles in.

"Let's roll, I say."

As Gina slides down the pole successfully and gets to Ecto-27, Vince appears and tosses the keys to Sara... who hits the little unlock button on the keychain and opens the doors to the rest of the group. One by one everyone loads their equipment into the back of the hummer and then find seats within (or on top in the case of Xander). Slimer appears from the front of the firehouse through the pair of firehouse doors and smiles at the team getting ready for action.

Vince walks over to Sara in the driver's seat and hands her a clipboard.

'Okay, here's the important info for the job. You have to head over to Yankee Stadium... there's apparently a group of a dozen ghosts that are haunting the park. From eyewitness accounts they are very loud, very... "drunk"... for lack of a better word. They are moving through the stands and out on the field, making a general nuisance of themselves... screaming the word "Curse" over and over again. I wish I could be more specific, but I'm not a sports person myself so most of what the contact was saying went over my head. But if you get there, go meet a guy by the name of Dylan Wayne and he'll be able to help you get inside and explain a bunch of what is going on.'

She peers at the six of you from behind her glasses, and if any of you knew who Janine Melnitz was, you'd certainly say that the child's stare is just like her mom's.

'Paperwork includes all pricing, contracts and such. Don't do anything before getting Mr. Wayne's signature on everything, because clients tend to stiff us when they get the bill. Use your best judgement. And good luck out there!'

She nods once, backs away from the truck, and you hear the garage doors begin to open automatically. Sara turns the ignition key and the engine revs a bit, then suddenly she takes you all out of the firehouse like a bat out of hell... sirens wailing, lights flashing. Your first assignment begins! Yankee Stadium!

OOC: Remember that you get extra Brownie Points when you talk in character, especially when your actions are going towards your character goals. So random musings, funny convos with each other, inexplicable situations you put yourselves and each other in... all can be a part of the game even when there is nothing "happening" per se. So just like Sara and Elyssa talked for quite a bit on page 1... feel free to just riff and have fun being funny. The actual busting of ghosts is one of the least important aspects of the game (since it's so darned simple), so if you only post one or two lines of dialogue as you wait for combat to begin... you're going to be missing out. Just a little bit of advice to you all. :)

OOC: Heh. You asked for it... :)

As they roar through the streets, Dan pulls out the camera and begins filming...and narrating:

"Ghostbusters: Mission One! Roll call! Behind the wheel, skilled parapsychologist Sara Whetney." As Dan falls to the side on a turn, he mutters, "not-so-skilled driver."

The fall does give him a dramatic angle on Xander in the turret, though. Quickly pulling success from defeat, Dan continues.

"Manning Ecto-27's onboard defenses, Xander Braunschwagger, buff and exuberant import from ... where are you from again, X?"

"So Gina, I heard you're having problems with ghosts too." she said, trying to draw the 'fake' medium into a conversation. "From what some of the nicer ones have told me, psychics are light bright lamps in a really dark room. That might be why you're being pestered. You could actually be a psychic too!" she said grinning and grabbed the panic bar as Sara made a sharp turn. "Hay Sara are you driving like with the Force?"

Xander squares his jaw and flips down his goggles again after he put them up to sit... moer comfortably in the turret. Grabbing the control bar like a gunner in a WWII movie he smiles over his shoulder toothily. "Ze foot of the ze Great Alps demselves! But truly, I am from the World!" The wind whipping over his smooth heard, he laughs heartily and turns his attention back to the road.

"That's our X-Braun, folks," Dan embellishes for the future viewers. "World and ghost conquering ... um, Alpan!"

"Who's next? Say hi to our adoring public!"
Dan offers, swinging the camera around and hoping to catch someone doing something exciting. That it's difficult to do exciting things while belted into a seat in a car clearly escapes him.
