D&D 5E Baldur's Gate 3 needs more short companions!

It is something that annoys me is not a single companion is on the short side

No dwarves
No gnomes
No halflinga

Why is that and which should be added?
They initially had issues with kissing animations, and conversations generally, where a short character talks to a larger character. Pretty much resolved now, but it's probably why none of the origin characters are short.

In my head canon it’s Jaheira. :)

That would explain her hybrid form. :p

Anyway, back to the actual topic, i might add to the companion lineup:

A Halfling Monk

A Gnome Sorcerer

And a Dwarven Bard

I'm less confident at picking their backgrounds but maybe in order: Folk Hero, Urchin and Guild Artisan respectively.

People not liking short races in fantasy games is a well-known phenomenon. Look at D&D Beyond's numbers for racial/species choices, or the count of shorter race characters in popular MMOs like WoW and FF14.
Lalafell are the 3rd-most popular race in FF14. Shorty races are less popular in WoW and D&D Beyond though, yeah.

I remember back in the BG1&2 day when the "shorty" saving throw bonus made them highly rated as a racial option.

In the age of internet you may find really sick people. There is hentai with characters from cartoons for children. The brand could be seriously damaged if those perverts started to create NSFW content with kenders and like this. Maybe they are only 1% of the population but one is enough to cause serious troubles and controversies.

My suggestion for short species is to add some power like jump spell, and more options for monster mounts. For example a gnome artificier using a "hollow" paladin autognome as powered armour (OK, technically they would be two PCs and then the XPs reward should work in a different way).

to be frank, those people would make that content anyway. there's no point in worrying about them because they'll hit your content no matter what you do.
