D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 will now be releasing August 3rd on PC and September 6th on PS5, increased level cap, race & class details and more

Spoiler response:

The current theory seems to be that The Absolute is the whole of the Dead Three (Bhaal, Myrkul, Bane), because the Absolute's logo allegedly incorporates all three of their symbols. And to be fair, it definitely incorporates Bane's skull-triangle and Myrkul's handprint, but I don't see any evidence of Bhaal's blood-drops or circle, so maybe Bhaal has been or feels he has been betrayed by the other two. It's also possible our boy Cyric is involved in all this in some way - the skull in all versions of the Absolute's logo is jawless, like Cyric's, but unlike Bane and Bhaal's, and in some versions of the logo there are lines radiating out in a way that's reminiscent of Cyric's starburst. So could it be Bane + Myrkul + Cyric? Talk about awkward conversations!

Some how the Absolute is also connected to the Mindflayers some how.

Could you elaborate on this? I want to play the game with my partner and suggested multiplayer constantly, but she's really turned off by splitscreen so hotseat without splitscreen would be a great alternative.

They showed a combat scene where there were two players deciding what to do with their characters, no split screen mode then during the same combat a third player turned on split screen mode and ambushed the enemies the other two were fighting. So it seems like split screen can be turned on and off it appears.

The Release Trailer. There appears to be an Underwater scene, Underdark Scene, Astral Scene, a Githyank Cleric of Vlaakith customer character meeting Vlaakith (I suspect its a religious vision, perhaps worshippers of other Gods see their deities instead), city of BG, a bunch of sex scenes, what looks like Hell?, top hat hobgoblin guy, and some scary monster thing.

My main objection to Dark Urge is do we really need TWO different evil voices in our heads?

That’s actually the Ketheric Thorn reveal trailer from a few months back.

I suspect it's not too difficult to spoof multiplayer so you can have a Dark Urge and a Tav.
I wonder if they'll make it as possible like original games to have a party of your own characters if you want. In the original games, you just used multi-player as a workaround and just set all the character slots to be run by yourself. I would guess they wouldn't make it as easy if they do so though...

That IS a concern, and I'm also wondering how much angst dialog will come with playing a Resistant Dark Urge. But with no associated origin character, playing Dark Urge may be the only way to see most of its content, while you at least get to see a large chunk of the content from all the other origin characters even if you don't choose them.

That's just speculation though. It might turn out that you can see most of the Dark Urge content anyway, or the amount of missable content is the same no matter what origin you choose.

Indeed. I think the Absolute has to be something more Eldritch. Possibly a pan-dimensional god-eater.
Perhaps it has the iconography of the dead death gods because it has consumed (parts of) their corpses? We know god-bodies float in the Astral long after they've died, Myrkul lingering on as a guttering ember of consciousness due to the Spirit-Eater and all that.

I suspect Dark Urge will be the "most" missable content if you don't take it, but not to a massive degree. Especially if most of it is like what we saw in the PfH, being inner thoughts and such, opportunities to follow or resist horrible urges. I would expect each of the origin characters to have a point in their story where they make a choice for themselves, or spend some time off on their own separate from the player, or otherwise live through a bit of content you can't see even if they're in your party. Dark Urge will just have that content inside their own head in most cases.

BG3 is 2# top selling game on Steam!

Steam Search

It looks like its fourth, but a free game and Steam Deck which is hardware are on the same list for some goofy reason, so you don't count those, leaving only one selling game ahead of it, and that game is roughly a quarter of BG3's price.
