D&D 5E Ban Variant-Human! Impact?

I wasn't aware of that compromise. I've been operating under the assumption that each berry gets the bonus.

Oh WOW.

If I had to pick a RAW interpretation for goodberry now I would pick the one where disciple of life doesn't affect it at all because goodberry is actually a spell that creates a healing item and doesn't actually heal itself.

That said, the compromise made everyone happy enough and so I wouldn't play that interaction by RAW, I'd use that compromise.

So, I started a new campaign today. Six players - all humans.

OP may have a point, but
1. I like having a human-centric campaign; and
2. Shopping around for feats and combos give my players a lot of pleasure. Banning or restricting feats would make the game less fun for them. Sharpshooter is really the only feat that truly bothers me.

It's easy to have a human centered campaign no matter how good humans are - ban all the other races and variant humans. Now you get the best of both worlds ;)

What "compromise"? From WOTC:

If I’m a cleric/druid with the Disciple of Life feature, does the goodberry spell benefit from the feature? Yes. The Disciple of Life feature would make each berry restore 4 hit points, instead of 1, assuming you cast goodberry with a 1st-level spell slot.

Ok... I mean, the biggest limiter of healing is action economy. Getting 4 HP per berry instead of 1 doesn't change that. How likely are you to sustain 1-3 damage in a hit such that it would keep you from going down again?

If you mean out of combat... :🤷:. Out of combat healing is easy to come by. You could easily assume full healing between every encounter without changing all that much about the game.
