Bang goes one of my nastier builds

I've just noticed in 3.5 you can't add Power Attack damage to light weapons, so bang goes my Maximus clone wielding dual short swords, and it also puts the kibosh on the fighter wielding two picks - Weapon Spec, Weapon Mastery, Improved Critical, Greater Weapon Spec would have been very much nastier if I could add PA damage.

Yep, pretty lame call on the part of 3.5. Can't stab anyone really hard with a knife, can you?

This screams for a feat or even a prestige class.

Use heavy picks, and either suck up the -4/-4 or take the Oversized Two-Weapon Fighting feat from Complete Adventurer.

Notice too that it nerfs monks: they can PA with their hands but not their special monk weapons.

That's what quarterstaff is for...

Technically, unarmed strikes are also light weapons...

True and irrelevant - check the Power Attack text.

You can always go with a double weapon. Fight two weapon style with it, or fight with one end and wield it two-handed for that sweet PA 2:1 cash-in. Monks can even do it with their beloved quarterstaff.

Arcanis has stats for the gladius, which is an exotic short sword that you can power attack with. And any combat feats tied specifically to the gladius also work with short swords.

Would dual wielding two bastard swords (one being a sunblade) work instead? A sunblade counts as both a bastard sword (for power attack) and a light weapon (for TWF'ing).
