bards majestic word slide question

hipnotode

First Post
so majestic word can let target spend healing surge and does make them slide 1.
my question is, as forced movement doesnt allow OAs, can you apply a forced movement to yourself? therefor giving yourself a minor action shift and heal.
my reasoning for being why should the power allow allies to move unprovoked but not you.
my reasoning against being if its targeted on yourself its not FORCED.

can i get a ruling please?

many thanks in advance,

Yes, it is forced movement!
Slide means slide. No matter who is slid.

Imagine the slide an arcane trick that allows someone to move unprovoked. Imagine it some kind of force. Some flash of light, that diverts the attention for a short moment. An illusion of some kind, that fools the senses.

This means grappling the bard or his allies is not the easiest of things.

And thanks for the XP... I sometimes post a very short and quick answer and edit it later on to get more substance into it. ;)

cool.
can you quote sources to back that up?
i ask cause im starting a campaign as a bard, and dont know how tough my dm is going to be on these things.

From the majestic word entry of the compendium:
Target: You or one ally in the burst
Effect: The target can spend a healing surge and regain additional hit points equal to your Charisma modifier. You also slide the target 1 square.
No exception from the general rule. (Like a phrase "If you target an ally, slide him 1 square")

These are the entries for forced movement:
Slide
When you slide a creature, there’s no restriction on the direction you can move it.

Forced Movement
Movement that a creature is compelled to do, specifically a pull, a push, or a slide. A creature can be moved in other ways, such as through teleportation, but only pulls, pushes, and slides are technically forced movement.
Note, that there is no requirement of "another creature" or such. Which means: No exception, just use the basic rules, which in this case allow a bard to force move himself (a very rare power*!)

*Actually, I could see such powers errated to allow the target to shift 1 as a free action ignoring difficult terrain. This would make it more in line with the usual application of forced movement and willing movement, but being a very huge nerf.

Aye, the bard can make himself slide 1 without provoking. Keep in mind though that there are a lot of bard powers (like Song of Courage) that give bonuses to allies. You are never your own ally, therefore the bard would not receive those bonuses.

yeah, ive chosen most my powers with the "if ally misses, they/you roll d20 and can replace the roll" property.

i only really have one more question about the builld, im a bard/shaman (and assasin, but thats not important here), and am wondering about the encounter opertunity action you get, does it aply to forced movement?
(i know i cant trigger it myself because you cant take opertunity actions on your turn)
