Springfield Vt won the opening of Simpson contest. This may imply Bart is a Green Mountain Boy.

Now millions of people are asking...... "What state is Vermont in?"

Yeah. . . I won't believe it until it's said in an episode. Of course, seeing as how I haven't watched a new episode in a few years, that could be a problem. . . :o

But the only one on the show with an Eastern accent is the mayor. (Well, I guess Apu, but different Eastern...)

that is not an eastern accent...it is a spoof of the Kennedy accent, the only people in the whole region that really talk that way are that family and few folks near cape cod.

Of course, if Greoning has his way, the Springfield gag will continue. 35 States have a Springfield in them: these do not - Alaska, Arizona, Connecticut, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas,
Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Utah, Washington, Wyoming.

But there are 53 Springfields in the US, some states have more than one (Florida for example, has two less about 95 miles from each other (as the crow flies). One near Panama City, the other near Jacksonville. So, there you go.)

Personally as a displaced Illinoisan, I think we should have won - we also have a Shelbyville. :)

What a travesty. How did this happen? Everybody knows ;) that the Simpsons live in Oregon.

Matt Groening grew up in Eugene, Oregon--a town whose only suburb is Springfield. Then he moved to Portland, Oregon. Many of the Simpsons characters' last names are street names in Portland: Simpson, Flanders, Quimby, Terwilliger, Lovejoy, Kearney.

Plus, there was a nuclear power plant nearby and we had a famous three-eyed fish hauled from the Willamette river during Groening's residence.

P.S. I saw Eugene's entry in the Simpsons Movie contest and I'm not surprised they didn't win. It was terrible.
