On second thought, I'm not quite sure how I'd ever use one, but dang, they fire up my imagination. That's what dragons should be like--nearly godlike in power, incarnations of evil and hatred.

it seems now, also, with books like MM3 & 4, that most (if not all) of the critters are made up new, rather than taken from any magazines or modules. unless i'm totally mistaken.

Blade Demons. Hands down the best demons I've seen in a while.

The Bhut from X4 inspired me to include the bhut in Fiend Folio, but I also pulled some lore from real-world myths about bhuts in the Fiend Folio version. In any event, you can still use the Fiend Folio bhut in a theoretical X4 update; instead of changing shape into monsters at night, they just shed their stolen corpses at night.

There were so many of them in The Winding Way in Dungeon #117 that they became monsters the party loved to hate. We ended up pronouncing their name as "ba-hoot".

I used a julajimus too -- it killed a PC IIRC.
