Not necessarily. I think the Bond films have gotten more interesting over the years, particularly as being sequential story telling. I know I'm stretching the years just a little here, but Mel Gibson's Payback I think is a great example. There is this thin gangster underworld going on and you dont mind it not being expanded on because the characters are written in a quirky way. The charisma is coaxed out of the actors as the cleverness unfolds in the writing. Batman films are very inconsistent when it comes to a compelling and interesting story telling, but they do achieve it, particularly in the last 20 years.

Run of the mill thin storylines overshadowed by action is the template. The great films tend to break the mold. John Wick for me is like Stephen Segal; Millennial edition.
I would say that, in this case, the Bond films suffer because of their longevity. If it was just Daniel Craig then I might agree.

A bit of an unfair advantage to newer series. They get to benefit from technology and writing decades ahead of where Bond, Batman, etc.. got their start.

I'd be hesitant to choose any particular one of the options in the poll over another, but just off the top of my head I'd say that John Wick and the Bourne movies have probably had the most interestingly choreographed fight scenes.

They were also good so they're my picks for best action films.

Less tech in Craig's Bond has actually made for better storytelling, to my mind. He's closer to the Bond from the books (a thug in a nice suit).
