The bard sits on the bed looking to the others. "Well, we don't know much, but what we do know is that this man A) Played cards and B) Was not very lucky about it. We've found out so far that cards are played at the Crane and that other gambling occurs at the other two taverns in town. It seems the Crane would be a good place to start looking. Now like I said we don't know much, so we must be very careful about how we go asking questions. This man may not be gambling anymore ,after the kobold was run off his funding probably ended abruptly, but if we find the last place he was at it could help us find where he is now. Remember, people really want to tell you things, as long as they think you don't care. As soon as you show a bit of interest though... well then people get very quiet. I think my plan will work well enough. I will go to the Crane alone ahead of the rest of you as a gambler looking for a game. You come along after a few minutes for a drink. Stick around the common room and see what you can overhear without direct questions on our man. If you want you can comment on things like losing fortunes, gambling away lives, unexpected riches, that sort of thing to jog the memories of the people. I shall be doing the same with the gamblers." Finally, it seems, Azeem stops talking. He seems to have stopped in the middle of a thought.

He looks back to the group. "I'm not sure about the stakes at the Crane, but I may very well run out of funds as I have only 37 eagles to my name at the moment. I shall try to make it last, but that is my concern not yours. What do you all think of my plan? Any other ideas?"

"Well if I know anything about down on their luck gamblers, that bugger probably owes loansharks some money. I say we find out who the big sharks are and pawn us off as bounty hunters looking for hire.. which won't be too hard... its the truth. We can offer to bring in tough outstanding markers they dont have time to deal with. We can offer a 70/30 split of what swag we find on them."

Ezieer smiles wickedly

"Eventually we will find our fish.. if given good enough smarmy on the bugger. Until then... we keep ourselves occupied and make some coin to boot. When we do find our man... we bail and head for the ship. I'd suggest not using your real name, the shark might be peeved if they find out we didnt bring a certain fish back."

"So what do you think of my plan... give it a whirl.. all we have to do to get started is go to the gambling halls and either keep our eye open or have someone pretend to lose all their money. Either way we should be able to figure out who lends the money to gamblers around here."

He smiles as if daring anyone else to come up with a better plan

The bard thinks over Ezieer's plan. "Hmm, that could work. I think we should keep that for a plan B though, do it after we try to collect information passively. We could always end up catching the wrong person that owes quite a bit, I'm sure there are more than one of them. When we do try it though, I should be able to lose my money fairly quickly... ha there's a twist a gambler wanting to lose."

"Whats wrong with catching the wrong fish... as long as we make some commision outa it... tiant goina hurt us none."

He restates his premise

"I mean I wanna get the right guy first try an all... but I aint thinking we goin ta be that lucky."

"Ah, good point. Well then that sounds like a good idea too. So we have to do some undercover work, start at the Crane and then to the other two when we are done. See if we can find out who loans money to gamblers, and see if he needs help getting collections on his bigger debters. Any other comments or suggestions?"

Liac glanced at the other men. He had quietly gone about cleaning up and glancing back through the copy of those strange notes he had, as he listened to the others plan. Taking a breath he relaxed, and clasped his hands behind his back. "We know he was given gold and gems - likely azurite since they mentioned as a payment in the first entry - , he has the means to get information on planned patrols, and since they lay out information about this gambler owing money to the author of those notes, he's lost to the kobolds in either their gnome or halfling disguises. But also that being paid for information on those patrols upset him. He may be, at his heart, a good man. I think it would be rash for all of us to pose as bounty hunters. We need him to give us information - not to have to force him. At least two of us should remain out of that portion of the plan, to 'rescue' him and offer him a chance to redeem himself. And depending on the scope of his debt..." Liac felt a slow smile spread on his face, one much more vicious and natural than any he'd given his companions before. "Possibly give him a fresh start."
