Big jump in sales on Amazon.com [1A: The Hamlet of Thumble]

That's a good idea. I think we should have some kind of a small download as a teaser. It's also good to provide free material as a service to the community. I'll look into it. Do you know a lot about posting downloads?

What kind of specific suggestions do you have for the Web site? I was just thinking the same thing, too. There's a lot of little bits of information, but I haven't compiled too much there. I think, first, we'll need to put up some better description for 1B. But what else would you recommend?

I appreciate your feedback!

Maybe you should move all of the information on 1A to the top so it shows first, then include the teaser download. Then all of the comments on 1A, and then 1B?

What information? Do you mean the excerpts and preview link? I already moved the review quotes for 1A up to the top. I don't have any yet for 1B.

I think normally you put the most recent products at the beginning of the page, so I put 1B ahead of 1A even though it's not released yet.

Do you think a link to a page full of information would be better? I guess that's what most people do. They have a "more info" link.

I think the Web site looks a lot better than it did just last week though. Of course, it still needs a lot of work.

Move this to the beginning of the 1A description:

The Hamlet of Thumble details nearly every resident with full stats (including age, height, weight, hair color, and eye color), personality descriptions, and possessions. Even the children are all given individual names. Over 130 halflings in all.

This product also contains information on:

58 Halflings with Complete Statistics
The Ecology of the Halfling
Mundane Weapons
Morale Checks
Special Ranged Attacks for Arcane Spellcasters
Incorporating Dreams Into Your Game
Reputation Points
Special Abilities and Weaknesses for PCs
3 New Core Classes: Cavalier, Shaman, and Witch
1 New Skill
7 New Feats
56 New Spells
12 New Magic Items
2 New Monsters
Starting a New Game
Distributing Ability Scores by Power Level
How to Avoid Killing 1st Level PCs
How to Keep Role-Playing from Becoming “Roll-Playing”
12 Signs of a Good DM
6 Good-Aligned Ready-to-Use Pre-Generated Characters
6 Evil-Aligned Ready-to-Use Pre-Generated Characters

...and much more!

That puts a lot of information at the top and pushes down the latest news (which is also important). What do you think about a link to "more info" instead?

I also purchased "Hamlet of Thumble" through Amazon (perhaps 3 or 4 weeks ago; my FLGS never carried it), and I was generally happy with the purchase. In particular, I see the shaman and witch classes, as well as some of the new spells, getting a lot of play in my campaign. The hamlet itself won't see much long-term use (interesting and detailed as it is), but that's because my players tend to play human characters, and I'm not sure how long they'll want to hang out with the little folk!

Will "Village of Oester" also contain new rules material, or will it be more strictly an adventure and campaign setting? Because new rules material hasn't come up much in the discussions I've read thus far, I'm guessing the latter...

(And don't worry...I'll still buy it.) :)

Ed, keep up the good work!

I'm glad you enjoyed the book and I'm especially happy to hear that you will be using the shaman and witch classes. A lot of the reviews seem to think these were unnecessary, but I find them quite necessary when I design adventures. I think they are well-designed and I haven't heard any particularly negative comments about them.

"World of Whitethorn 1A: The Hamlet of Thumble" is an extraordinary value, I have to say. If you just use the supplementary rules section, it's worth the $14.99, in my opinion. The Hamlet of Thumble is really 96 pages worth of material packed into a 72-page format, so even if you don't use the adventure setting or alternatively, you don't need the supplementary rules, GM Tips, etc, you're still getting half of the material (the equivalent of 48 pages, in reality) for a great price.

"World of Whitethorn 1B: The Village of Oester" has at least 100% more adventure and 50% more art. Everything has improved: the art, layout, editing, and mechanics. There is less supplementary rule information in The Village of Oester than The Hamlet of Thumble, but you'll still find an Abyssal Knight template, 2 new monsters, 6 new magic items, and more.

Also, there is a town and a village that you can re-use. Each has its own map outlining dozens of shops and other important locations.

Thanks for picking up the book and I look forward to hearing your comments on the next one!
