Close burst 2; this power creates a zone of darkness that remains
in place until the end of the dragon’s next turn. The zone blocks
line of sight for all creatures except the dragon. Any creature​

entirely within the area (except the dragon) is blinded.


Last night we had this come up, Is there any rules about the Wizards cantrip Light spell, will it penetrate the Cloud of Darkness or not ?

Our DM seems to think that the Cloud could not be lit up by the cantrip light, or any other light source. Has anyone seen anything regarding overlapping rules for magical darkness, and magical light ?

This topic actually has come up before. I sided with your DM.

By the rules, the cantrip does not affect the dragon's darkness. When I was running Raiders of Oakhurst, I allowed the wizard to roll Int versus the dragon's Will to counter it, but I'm not sure I'd do that again - it makes it too easy to counter one of the dragon's most powerful abilities.

Yeah, light does not affect it. You can light it up all you want, line of sight is still blocked.
